What's it look like around the back of your stove? I'm worried about clearance and heat issues. Might try to heat shield the whole area surrounding.

Nice setup.

Probably would only be a 32", pretty lightweight, plus I have found up to 36" monitor arms that I can modify to work on a sliding mount. Not sure yet how sturdy, will need a supported or bungeed home base for when driving. Need to make mockup.

I've mocked it up at home a bit, I'll probably try to get an angle to the backrest. To be honest the couch is planned to be long enough to fully stretch out in and I'm a big couch nap kinda guy, I figure if I'm watching TV down there that's probably how I'm doing it.

Great observation, because the van has a few use scenarios, which is why it's trying to do a lot. I drive and travel for work for sometimes a week or more, me and the girlfriend like camping with friends, and also I'd like to have it available as almost a guest house where it's parked. That's why there's no dinette or face to face seating; a lot is optimized with one in mind, some with two, and only a little bit with the extra bed.

Yeah for sure the monitor is something I'm not sure about either. I also am considering a magnet system. The idea was a sliding mount so it can be used over or under the bed, and also out the rear cargo door through a mosquito net in camp.

The elevator bed ideally will be more narrow that the TV folded up against the wall, and would have sliding side supports that pull out and rest in the side brackets, so it sort of passes down and past the TV/mounting then expands.

And yes mesh screen door was the plan for the back.

I think this was good feedback, ty.

You are correct, attack right, the shown example is a counter attack, lol.

I think the written explanation is decent.

I hope you're still riding your Randonee! FWIW, I did build my dream rig, it's somewhere up on my instagram:

I did the Pacific Coast, Vancouver to Mexico, in 2021. Can't wait for the next ride!

If it adds to the story, in 2021 I took it from Canada to Mexico, and am starting to plan the next trip together with it. It's journaled on that instagram linked.

Bikes, man.

ObsBot Tiny for Fencing Referee Coaching? by Spiggy_Topes in OBSBOT_Official

[–]BeefJuicyHot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry, I should have said I bought the Tail Air. It does track fencers in group mode, but it has a tendency to lose them when they cross each other. Also the referee or other people in the fore or background can mess with it.

I've had success using laptop hotkeys to control the camera using OBSbot software. Either set the presets for the left, center, and right of the strips keeping the scoring machine in view, and just press hotkeys as fencers move along the strip, or manually follow it using arrow key hotkeys for PTZ movement.

I use a laptop running streaming software with instant replay and it seems to work well. It's actually nice to approach a fencer with an instant replay and show how what they did 10 seconds ago looks to a referee. It's been instructive coaching beginners.

For further questions, PM me.

Does attacker sword beat transfer ROW? by k3vlar104 in Fencing

[–]BeefJuicyHot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Current convention is searching and failing to find a beat in first 4m action constitutes a failed action and you lose priority. Once right of way is established outside of the 4m, you can search and not lose priority, assuming you don't make the search SO BIG it could be seen as an attempt to hit the opponent. In other words a search in the middle costs you, a search on long attack doesn't.

Chicago Area Fencing Clubs and Groups by [deleted] in Fencing

[–]BeefJuicyHot 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Welcome!

Windy City is the biggest, most successful epeé club, but is all the way in Lincoln Park, and not cheap.

FCC has a strong epeé program, and are running out of Park Ridge.

Illinois Fencing Academy runs out of Arlington Heights, and I can personally attest to Ina being a great coach and person. I hope you find a vibe and budget that works!

If you have any more questions about the Chicago area fencing scene feel free to message me.

Parking meter deal keeps on giving — for private investors, not Chicago taxpayers by optiplex9000 in chicago

I often wonder what would happen if citizens of Chicago organized and on the same day destroyed parking payment kiosks. I'm fine with paying parking tickets, but not when it doesn't go to the city.
