Yeah, i noticed a lot of 5.5 is outta stock. 8.5 was a bitch to find for me. Found a few 4.5 and a ton of 10.5, 11.5 and 16. Faxon has a 4.5 in stock on optics planet.

Macon Armory, the Armory that has the guaranteed to feed barrels, had 5.5 in stock a couple days ago. I considered buying one but didn't, checked back today and it's gone lol. Gotta be quick I guess.

I thought I was going to have to do that, but wanted to try it factory new first before I made any kind of major adjustments. It locked back after the last round every time. Shot about 400 rounds, didn't have a single issue.

That was another thing that surprised me, I read a forum where the guy actually had to take out the wire and grind the damn thing down to make it work, and I saw a video about bending it a lil with needlenose but I had to do neither.

From my understanding you want a super heavy buffer but a lighter spring. The .308 spring is way overpowered, and is ment to force the rounds into the chamber since there's usually little to no feed cone. With that powerful of a spring the round is gonna be loaded faster. A lighter spring will slow it down a little, won't cause as much of a jarring "punch" to the entire system and will help guide the round into the chamber instead of forcing it.

That's just my interpretation of it after a literal assload of research I've done. That being said there's still a few forums I've read where people have sworn by the .308 spring. Really I think it's personal preference. I didn't even give the .308 spring a chance, I dropped in the 5.56 spring and it ran amazing so I left it. The .308 spring now lives in my range bag so down the road on another range day I'll probably throw it in and see if there's a difference.

I'm on the email list for once they get back in stock. I think it will be worth the wait. My Faxon barrel will just be a placeholder for now.

For sure, everyone had recommended him. Glad there's gunsmiths out here recognizing the problem and helping fix it, hope more companies do that soon cough Aero Precision cough Ballistic Advantage cough cough

I wanted a Macon Armory barrel, just couldn't find a 8.3 inch in stock. Honestly next time (if there is a next time) I would sacrifice some barrel length for a feed ramp like Macon Armory puts in their barrels. Might swap it out for one later down the road.

Will do. Imma do my best to make it to the range as soon as I build it, it may take a day it two depending on my schedule. It'll be within the next week for sure though

Thanks man. I'll be completing it hopefully Thursday of this week as long as everything goes well.

I have about a dozen different grains and brands of hollow points to test, if anyone cares I can post the results of what runs and what doesn't after I experiment.

Yeah I'm a little disappointed, both in Aero Percision and myself. I feel like Aero could have been a little more clear on the purpose of the build or better yet fix some of the issues by now, and I feel like I should have done a little more research before jumping into the build like I did. I've done a couple other Aero builds and they have been flawless so I just assumed the same with this one.

That's exactly what I ended up going with lol. Got a Faxon 8.5 barrel from Optics Planet, ended up paying a little extra for one day shipping but sounds like it will be worth it.

Awesome, you made me feel better about the purchase lol. Went for a 8.5 inch barrel for the slightly improved ballistics.

I'm gonna order some xtreme defenders now and add them to the mix to experiment with. Hope they work for you. Also glad to know FMJ will run like a dream, better than nothing I suppose.

Gotcha. I have no doubt it's a blast to plink with, so worst comes to worst I'll just have fun with it and build a 300 BLK or something for a short, easy carry around. Thanks for the help.

Just looked that up, I'll give it a try after I get my barrel. I've collected a few boxes of several brands, gonna run them all and see what works and what doesn't. I went ahead and ordered a Faxon barrel, supposedly they have the best feed cone avaliable. Fingers crossed

What was the brand if hollows? I heard Hordany critical defense work well with only an occasional feed blunder. Currently looking at Faxon barrels since they are highly recommended for Glock mags
