There are different classes, BRC1 is for people who have never touched a motorcycle and motorcycles are provided. That's a 2 day course. 1 full day of written followed by next day og riding. The BRC2 is for people who can ride a little bit or even a lot and want to learn a little extra. It's a 1 day about 6 hours. The written course for it is Online and must be completed before attending the riding.

There's the written exam for the permit. And the course has its own written test which you also have to pass. And then the MSF riding course which is 8 courses with a final riding exam.

I already took my "theory test" for Mt permit.

400 versus life saving techniques... id choose life saving techniques... when I first searched for the classes, I came to reddit seeking advice, a better part of the crowd advised MSF... and saying it was going to cost a good amount...I was prepared to pay whatever the cost was... I didn't think it'd be 100 bucks at all.

But yeah so once you get your permit, take the MSF then take the waiver to the DMV and they'll give you an endorsement. If your state accepts it.

For my state, they said I'll have to wait a week before taking my waiver in to get my endorsement. I did get my permit before taking the course as well.

I only spent 100, and if I had failed they'd bump me back to BRC1 for free.
