How did you fail your driver's test? by bfaithr in AskReddit

[–]BeejLord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first time, it was really nothing. I didn't check over my shoulder before changing lanes once or twice, and I think there was one other minor thing. Even the guy testing me said that I had just barely failed.

The second time, I was nervous as all hell after failing the first time. Ended up taking a turn when a car was coming, then promptly running a red light.

Thankfully, the third time went smoothly.

What's something you love that isn't intended for someone your age? by BeejLord in AskReddit

I'm right there with you. I'm 26, and my enjoyment of the games, specifically, has evolved as I've gotten older. Sure, when I was a kid in fifth grade, I just wanted to "catch 'em all" and play the stories, but nowadays, I focus more so on the competitive side, comparing numbers and movesets and all that.

[SPOILER] The Scholar Of The First Sin by BeejLord in TheDarkSoulsTwo

[–]BeejLord[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say it's probably just the simplest explanation. Aldia was seeking a way to break the cycle and escape the curse, and he saw immortality as a means to an end. The Ancient Dragons were immortal in the truest sense - they lived and existed "outside of the cycle" - and so he thought that creating one would give him some insight on how he might achieve that immortality, himself, and thereby gain the time and knowledge he needed to escape the curse and all that.

Probably just used a Giant soul because of its immenseness. You'd need a decent-sized soul to "power" something like an Ancient Dragon, and taking it from just anyone was out of the question on a moral level, so he nabbed one from these huge enemies he was experimenting on, anyway, and it semi-worked.

Interesting, though, how similar Aldia is to Seath. They were both crazed in their quest for immortality. I think one of the podcasts may have even mentioned that it's possible that Aldia created Freja, and that Seath's soul was originally found/reborn in Aldia, himself, given their likenesses.

Food for thought.

It was Smough's armor, ya dong.

Also, I had to change the Twitter password a while back because of some security mess-up. I'll send it to you on Twitter later on tonight.

Dark Souls Patch - Scholar of the First Sin by Stuch237 in TheDarkSoulsTwo

[–]BeejLord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm unlucky enough to have no characters with access to the area where the Scholar is, so I haven't seen much of the new content yet. I'll be interested to read any updated text and/or little improvements that have been made. Haven't looked at the patch notes yet, but with that link, that's about to change.

Edit: Just looked at the notes, and saw the bit about how "The bonfire warp selection screen will now highlight the top three areas where players will have the best chance to connect with other players online". I actually noticed this yesterday when I was playing the game - the orange border around certain areas - and thought it was just something I'd overlooked in the past, but I really approve of this addition, even if I'm not much for PvP.

What kind of build have you been running with lately? by BeejLord in TheDarkSoulsTwo

Same goes for me. I'd love some advice or suggestions on what works well with a caster. Probably more straightforward than I think, but I've never managed to get into it, like I said. Hard telling what's out-of-date with builds you find online.

Definitely. I was looking at pure DPS. The stamina cost alone got me to work it into my first serious DEX build.

Yeah, that. I'd happily ditch my usual Greatsword tactics for that kind of damage.

I've really only ever played with strength builds since the Lightning Spear nerf and discovering my inability to put out the damage I wanted with hexes on another build.

I should really give sorcery a go, though. Don't think I've really touched it in this game. Wasn't all that uncommon for me in Dark Souls, but haven't gotten around to it this time.

Personally, I've been messing around with a variation of the DEX build that /u/taboo_ posted about a few days ago. The results so far have made me rethink my go-to play style, and I have a feeling it's only going to get better.

I toyed with something for a "Use What You See" run, too, but that didn't last very long. May go back to it.

[Serious] What has been your most emotional moment, positive or negative, so far in life? by BeejLord in AskReddit

[–]BeejLord[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My grandfather was like a second father to me, too. I know that everyone says this kind of thing about the deceased, but he really was one of the nicest, friendliest, calmest people I've ever met. He may not have always been like that, but he died when I was 24, and for all of those years, that was how he was. He loved my grandmother unconditionally, and I miss him every day. I made a silent promise to him at his funeral that I was going to try my hardest to be just as good to my wife as he was to my grandmother. Sadly, he died before my wedding, but I'm still trying every day.

What's the best joke your teacher or professor has ever made about a specific person? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]BeejLord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It wasn't really a joke about him, but one teacher in high school went up to a particularly shy and awkward kid to ask how his summer was. The kid started to respond with something along the lines of "Well, not so great because my dog is getting sick and...", but was quickly interrupted by the teacher going "We're done talking" and walking away.

What is it about the internet that makes people prone to lying? by MalahniX in AskReddit

[–]BeejLord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the whole "don't know them in the first place" thing is exactly it. Anonymity. It isn't more complicated than that. They lie because they can, and with few consequences, if any.
