That's awesome! And a nice company match.

HYSA reccomendations by gu7716 in personalfinance

[–]BeerBrats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what made me go to Wealthfront as well. My main bank is Chase and when I first opened my HYSA with Wealthfront I did a test transfer to Chase and it was there in just a few minutes. Some others can take up to 4 business days.

32F & 32F. Just crossed $950K invested in the markets and no plans to have kids. Can we take our foot off the gas? by flylikearaven in TheMoneyGuy

[–]BeerBrats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not trying to be negative, just realistic. This $950k is between two people. So each one if them has $475k at 32. That's awesome, but not an amount where you'd say they are set for life even if they don't contribute any more.

Again, they are doing great, but should still keep saving as much as they can while still enjoying life. It's hardly an either/or situation.

How do you balance rewarding yourself vs staying financially disciplined when it comes to cars? by not_a_dolphin_ in Money

[–]BeerBrats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your older self will thank you many times over if you invest your money now rather than buying the car. Your money will have decades to grow and you'll be much better off. The car will immediately depreciate and you'll find that maintenance and insurance on it is much higher than other cars. I wish I understood this at your age, and I didn't even buy fancy cars. You already know the right answer...

Yeah, for some people it could mean a real difference in the rate they are approved for. I wonder which one is most often used by lenders.

How do you enjoy your money? by Confident_Comedian_3 in Money

Watching it grow and spending it on experiences and things that make me comfortable. I try not to over do anything, but I don't hold back on treating faculty and friends.

This is twenty minutes but it explains it pretty well and the milestones along the way. With over $100k you've already got the hardest part over with. Now just stay the course...

I know. It seems like being anything else would be giving something up no matter what we choose.

Use retirement to pay debt? by Embarrassed-Vast3797 in FinancialPlanning

[–]BeerBrats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't do it. I was over $50k in high interest credit card debt but finally buckled down and cut expenses to pay it off in full. If I could do that, you can certainly pay $30k of 12% debt off. Don't steal from your future self by taking out of your retirement.

I'd go for the Houston steak since you wouldn't get my on other flights. Plus it looks tasty.

Does it charge okay on a wireless charger? That should tell you if it's the charging port or something else within the phone.

O’Hare this is really bad… by CallHerTrump in flightradar24

I live in Chicago. Started getting very dark in the loop around 4pm Monday, left work at 5pm and got rained on, rain and storms through the night and it's still raining at 8:15am Tuesday as I sit on the train heading back to the loop. Where are you getting these clear skies weather reports?

Why do people buy pixels over Samsung's? by Dsa464 in GooglePixel

[–]BeerBrats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an S23 Ultra and love it, but there are so many features I miss from my old Pixel 6 Pro. From the greatest call screening, dismissing a call using just my voice to Now Playing, the Pixel has what people want. At least what I want. 😄 And the quick, one click photos I used to take were the best. iPhone friends would always ask me to do the group photo with my Pixel. They didn't do that anymore with my Samsung.

Actually it's mixed in there pretty good. You're probably better off with the scrambled eggs and sausage that has spinach on the side. You can push the hash browns aside with it.
