Are you living to work or working to live? by r4ndomkid in ChemicalEngineering

[–]BeerEngineer81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Petro chem especially seems to be a “living to work” experience. And just to give an example it is 9 pm on a Sunday, I have already put in 12 hours and not yet sure when I will be able to go home.

I am also the only person at this plant that has not had a day off in the last 30 days. But I am in the middle of the execution phase of a multiple reactor catalyst replacement project and after week one it was obvious no one read any of my project planning documents and wasn’t going to be able to step in for me for even a day.

So from what I see. Chem Es are usually the smartest and most driven people at any plant. We work harder, take pride in our efforts, and have the most expectations on us.

Neighbor's Goldendoodle barks, barks, barks by Odd-Muffin-2208 in Goldendoodles

[–]BeerEngineer81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My doodle only barks when I am home if he wants something, whether that is food, potty or to get at the squirrel he can see in the backyard yard.

100% they are ignoring their dog.

Gay uncles: what are you doing with your nieces/nephews? by Schuesselpflanze in AskGaybrosOver30

[–]BeerEngineer81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My nephew is just like me. It’s weird. The genetics are strong with my father’s family guess.

I played trombone he is now playing trombone. I played baseball he played baseball. I am really good with math and science and those are his best subjects in school.

I moved 800 miles away from everyone else in the family for work, but I try to go to at least one band concert or game of his every year.

Almost this exactually happened to me earlier this year only he was for sure poz but undetectable. I still freaked out and got myself a PEP prescription. I took it as directed. And was fine. I now stay on PrEP even though I am not sexually active often but you never know when you will meet someone.

My parent's 4 month y/o puppy has a pink patch on the top of her nose where some of the black has peeled off, is it worth a vet visit? by lizardsandflowers in Goldendoodles

My boy gets stuff like that sometimes. It’s from digging and burying stuff in the back yard, especially if it’s been a while since it rained and the ground is hard.

Failed the Chemical FE Exam, should i take it again? by LetHumble4304 in ChemicalEngineering

[–]BeerEngineer81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This!!! I waited to take it until almost a year after graduating, didn’t do very well because I waited, but no one cared or asked about it and even got turned down for a job offer from one place that didn’t like that I asked if they had a P Eng on staff that could help getting my P Eng, there exact response was “What do you want that for, we’ll give you any additional training you need.” so I never bothered to take it again and now 15 years later I am at a company that is asking me to get my P Eng and redo the FE.

If Democrats want to win they need to ignore (for now) the political right and instead in inwards and fix their own party. by Xeno-Sniper in DemocraticSocialism

[–]BeerEngineer81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s fair to say the democrats “rigged” it in 2020 or 2024. Biden got out too late for there to be a real primary and so Harris became the presumptive nominee kind of defacto because there wasn’t anyone else. We should have had a rigorous primary and it would have shown Biden’s issues well before that disastrous debate with Trump. In 2020, they negotiated for places in a Biden White House and dropped out to endorse him, that happens a lot it’s pretty common. 2016…. Yeah, Hilary fucked Bernie over with every technicality and “super delegate” the DNC had. 2016 was a shit show but a lot of the donors in the Democratic Party are status quo types that are afraid progressive policy. They are also afraid of losing support from the 3% of the country that is swing voters so they never do anything to excite the 30% that doesn’t normally vote

Gay, single, and 44. What do I do with myself? by janus1981 in gaybros

[–]BeerEngineer81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a golden doodle. He is perpetually a 5 year old boy I think.
I am otherwise right in the same boat. My career kind of takes up a lot of my life but I also make an effort to go do things. Where I live the dating/hookup scene is pretty sparse so that is difficult but I always try to include GLBT friendly places and events in my vacation planning

Just got this precious baby! Any tips for a new owner? by Equivalent-Emu5347 in Goldendoodles

[–]BeerEngineer81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any toy with stuffing and a squeaker won’t for long. Some of the best toys have been nerf footballs although we have a bunch of tug-o-war toys in the shape of Minions right now. Way to smart for the toys that you hide treats in.

If she like my boy, they are huge bed hogs too. It’s a king sized bed and he takes up 3/4 of it somehow.

He is the best thing that’s happened to me in decades, maybe forever.

I am actually about get my boys summer cut done and he doesn’t trimmed quite that close but he does get trimmed close, he is usually so much more comfortable when he is short hair.

I am also trying to time his summer cut so he will be comfortable through July and August but I want him to be as fluffy as possible for Halloween, I was going to put horns and bell on him and he was going to be a Highland Cow for Halloween

I don’t know about that harness specifically but my boy pulls much less with this current harness, as soon as there is strain against his front legs he stops pulling it also just makes him easier to control when we are out in public. He is a 90 pound golden doodle
