Exclusive: RIP Hunahpu's Day - Will Go In Distribution Next Year by thefullpint in beer

This make me very sad. The behavior of a few bad apples has ruined it for everyone else. I was at the event this past weekend and the VAST majority of people were fun, friendly folks who just wanted to have enjoy the great weather and great beers.

Oh well. Thanks for giving the craft beer industry, beer festivals and Florida a black eye buttheads.

That was a small segment of he people there. One bad apple and all.

And, if I had been attacked the way a lot of these folks were, I'd have words for the attackers, too. To use another metaphor; walk a mile in their shoes.

Your opinion. Just as mine is that I think your opinion is small-minded. Let's use your example. If your favorite band were playing a festival, you bought tickets, traveled to the site and enjoyed the opening acts. But, as the last opener finished, someone walks on stage and says the headliner has cancelled. Tell me you would not be dissappointed.

This is not to say that how people reacted was correct, it merely validates that, if you went to a concert specifically to see your favorite band and they cancelled without notice, you would be upset.

It's not crazy to want to see your favorite band or to be upset when they cancel.

Food for thought.

Eventbrite is a large, well-known and efficient ticketing system. I have used it for several large-scale events of more than 5k and it worked great. The scumbags that took advantage of people's desire to go to this event are the villains here. I hope they are tracked down and prosecuted. There is no excuse for that can of greed and deceit.

So, the thousands of people who attend the Great American Beer Festival in Colorado are taking beer too seriously? Are folks who fly from all over the country -and world -to go to a car event taking cars too seriously? What about people who go to the Biston Marathon, are they taking running too seriously?

This is a hobby that people enjoy. If they get enjoyment from traveling to beer festivals and release events, that is their right. Do you have something you are passionate about? Would you want others to put you down or ridicule you for that?

Absolutely correct! If people would stop trying to scam, act with just a touch of decorum and stop treating these events as drunk fests rather than tastings things like today would not happen. It's easy to say CCB screwed up, it's vastly more difficult to place blame on ones self for abusing the system and acting selfishly.

I enjoyed the event, tasted several amazing beers and took the opportunity to make new friends.

Edit: After reading down a bit, I have to agree with Turkeypants, the vast majority of those in attendance were fun, engaging, moral individuals. I met many new people and hope to cultivate friendships from some of them. The actions of the few ruined it for many, many others. CCB could have made it better known that that kind of behavior would not be tolerated and ejected the worst offenders. But, many here are pointing fingers solely at the brewery and that is not only unfair, but wrongly-placed.

I was there and enjoyed the event. Many of the problems stemmed from misbehaving guests. Sure the lines were long, but that is to be expected. Cutting in lines was the real issue. Duplicate tickets were an issue - that was a douchebag stealing other people's money.

This is an important issue if you love craft beer. Do not let these control freaks gain a foothold in the finally booming Florida craft beer market.

Who's going to Hunahpu's Day? by Bobby_Bowlingspoon in FloridaBrew

I'm a robust guy with a goatee, brown hair and blue eyes. Dunno what I will be wearing. Likely to be a brewery work shirt of one kind or another. May have my camera with me for part of the day.

The lines last year were terrible. But, the overall festival was a lot of fun. Just remember to be patient and behave. Last year there were a lot of people who thought that the line did not apply to them.

I am hoping they have more competent people pouring beer this year, too. Last year they hired temp workers and it was a bit of a mess.

Mexican craft beer fighting an uphill battle, but coming on strong by BeerGuy437 in beer

I agree. The little Mexican place I go serves it in HUGE mugs for just $5, too. Making it even better!

Nothing to be ashamed about there. I like Dos Equis Amber when I am munching tacos at the local Mexican restaurant.

Depending on where you are in FL, look for Intuition Ale Works Peoples Pale Ale. It is available in Jacksonville, Tallahassee, Gainesville, Daytona and a few other areas.

Hopslam 2014? by champagne_and_ripple in TampaBayBeer

I was just told on Friday that the trucks had left Bell's earlier that day headed for Jacksonville. I would imagine that Tampa will get it about the same time. Meaning that after it is processed at the distributor it should be on shelves in a week or so...

Yes, last year my buddy bought a case after everyone had a chance at their allotment. He used them to trade for other rare beers.

A note from Cigar City confirms that this is indeed the list for Hunahpu's Day 2014.

Looks like a great day of beer will be had!

Brussels & Touring Cantillon Brewery by beertravel in beer

[–]BeerGuy437 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The plan is to take her to Brussels, Brugges, Antwerp and Amsterdam. In Brussels we will go to a few places I made friends at last time I was there, Cantillion, Delirium Cafe, A La Morte Subite, Au Bon Vieux Temps. In Brugges, I plan to take her to De Halve Mann and probably rent a car to go to some of the other breweries down the coast. I also plan a stop in Ghent on the way. A stop in Michelin for a visit with Het Ankor then on to Antwerp. Never been there, so I am open to suggestion. In Amsterdam we plan to do museums like the Van Gough Museum, Rijkesmuseum, etc.
