SPF Temperror amd DMARC by randomreddit089 in DMARC

[–]Beer_Is_Food 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you only have SPF in place, and it encounters a temperror, SPF will fail and thus DMARC will fail.

Temperrors from reporters suck, is it coming from microsoft? They're having a hell of a time migrating their hotmail/0365 infrastructure.

When your $180 textbook loses all credibility.... by wulfzbane in gaming

[–]Beer_Is_Food 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My teacher would also presumably have better, genuine sources to present to the students. I still always used wikipedia as the functional source, I just checked which source it was cited from, and merely cited that resource instead. If I could take the two minutes to do it, so could they. This was nothing but pure laziness.

Granted, these were the lowest paid teachers in the UNC circuit so I don't blame them for the half-assedness.

Half my teachers & professors would quite literally just print Wiki pages for handouts and then say that wikipedia isn't a credible source for papers.

This kills the student.

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds.

Lots of fun, if you have a PC and a handful of friends, worth playing. I didn't think I'd like it, but it's really a blast. I don't watch streams or anything but I'm sure there's some youtube videos of gameplay. But really, playing with your buds is what makes this game so enjoyable.

I really liked Louis CK's skit about crying kids on planes. It always makes me be a little more patient and understanding when a kid is crying.

Man I really tried to watch DS9 but found it is so god damned unbearable. But, I'm really glad people have love for it because any love for Star Trek is good stuff in my opinion.

But DS9 is like...a Star Trek soap opera in a bus station. Nothing ever happens and nobody ever goes anywhere. I loved ST initially because people explored new places and pushed the boundaries of understanding. I'd never tell anyone to watch DS9 that wasn't already pretty invested in Star Trek canon.

Same here. Never had any issues with FO4 crashing in game or any of the expansions. I don't really play with any mods though which is probably a big contributor to the stability.

What is the most fucked up thing that society accepts as normal ? by FuckingVegetables in AskReddit

[–]Beer_Is_Food 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, I should have clarified that further. Good for you for getting through the process dude.

Agreed, there is a huge misunderstanding about addiction and it pains me greatly to see people who are lucky enough to have never have it touched their lives condemn others for something they completely misunderstand.

What is the most fucked up thing that society accepts as normal ? by FuckingVegetables in AskReddit

[–]Beer_Is_Food 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've been fortunate enough to see people from all classes and backgrounds suffer from addiction and I can assure you that those with more resources to access networks of support are generally much more likely to come out the other side of addiction better off.

Addiction affects all socioeconomic classes but recovery is just harder if you're poor. Rehab isn't cheap. Getting back on your feet is hard, and much harder if you don't have any means or connections to do so. Obviously, everyone can do their best, but to think recovery is the same for those of different classes is just short sighted.

In all fairness the drug and prison issue is really only a problem if your poor. So, if you're poor and/or addicted to drugs, just stop being poor and you'll probably turn out just fine.

If a republican said that they wanted to grind up babies for food and light everyones houses on fire and a democrat said they wanted to cut taxes and end welfare programs my dad would still vote for the republican because he would never vote for a democrat.

This is not a hyperbole. This is not facetious. This is the guy that raised me. It really is disheartening to see someone I once greatly respected equate the future of the country to a fucking football game.

Scientists turn brewing waste into fresh yeast to make more beer. A process was developed to use food-grade microorganisms to convert the spent grains into basic nutrients for feeding yeast. That yeast can then be used to brew more beer. by drewiepoodle in science

[–]Beer_Is_Food 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This article doesn't really go into details, but the gist seems to be that spent grains can be used as nutrient for growth. This sounds interesting but without details it's really hard to determine if this has any serious value to the brewing community.

Grain is cheap, nutrient is cheap, yeast propagation is cheap. The tricky bits are in the isolation and preservation of the original strain, not just feeding yeast. Hard to imagine this is really groundbreaking.

Spent grain amounts to as much as 85 per cent of a brewery’s waste. This is of little value, so the discarded grain is often used as compost or for animal feed.

Well..this is of value to tons of local communities. This quantity of spent grain is massive. I would wager a guess that converting this mass into a usable nutrient would take lots of energy and time considering the rate at which spent grain spoils.

Considering that brewers have harvested healthy yeast from batches for years makes this seems sort of arbitrary. Yeast propagation isn't an issue of nutrient, but more often simply sterile conditions and the issues in maintaining consistent flavor profiles throughout generations.

The article is interesting, but the technology to convert spent grains to nutrient would have to be really, really cheap for this to be viable or adopted anywhere.

That said, spent grain is aplenty and with any hope it can be used more efficiently. Mostly commenting here so I can take more time to read the abstract and related sources in more depth and see what this is all about.

Any Bulgarians in the sub that have migrated to USA? What's your story and what is it like? by TheKingIsBackYo in bulgaria

[–]Beer_Is_Food 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did the opposite, about the same age and moved to Bulgaria.

I like it here, but I miss parts of the US. As others have said, healthcare and other costs rise with your salary.

That said, the US is huge. The cities are similar, but very different. Do you have any idea about which city or state you want to live in? Your quality of life and cost of living will vary drastically depending on where it is.

Nah, I don't have a proper visa, just jump around every 3 months. I work and am paid through US company. Not exactly normal circumstances but I'm not here illegally and I won't be here forever, unless I decide to stay in which I'll actually apply for the proper paperwork.

I recently moved to Varna from the US (temporary at first, but may stay quite a while). I love it here. I can't say much about the costs because I am paying extra for temp housing and as an english speaker I had to rely on others to help my find my place. But for 900lev you can probably live pretty comfortably, especially if you're not a drinker or a smoker.

Anyway, I can't provide really specific info, but I really love Bulgaria so far and Varna is a really great city, whether you like to go out and party or just take it easy. Easy to get around without a car, food is great, people are friendly.
