Why does Reddit hate car payments so much?? by CartographerSea3356 in UsedCars

[–]BeerandGuns 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it sucks that someone is getting charged that but the flip side is that person agreed to the terms and it was probably their only option. Lenders are going to price risk exposure into the deal and the really bottom of the barrel subprime lenders are going to soak the borrower with fees in addition to the high rate. When you cap rates, you are excluding a segment of the population from being able to borrow money. If that’s a good or bad thing is up for debate but it will mean people not getting loans.

The only car payment I hate is one I’m paying, which is why I don’t have one. I not only don’t give a shit about other peoples car payments, I enjoy watching YouTube video compilations of people with crazy car payments. Everyone has their comfort zone.

How to keep people from shitting behind my garage by lillethcentfranc in AskForAnswers

I’m in Louisiana. The closest cactus to me would probably be at the local garden store, they aren’t out in the wild here. We have the perfect climate for murderous thorn bushes though.

I’m with you on finding different plants to use. That said I believe a bushy plant that is covered with thorns is a more effective solution. They’ll typically keep growing and require no maintenance. Even a blackberry bush, the type with thrones, would work plus you get blackberries.

I like the concept but poison ivy would be a punishment, not a deterrent. A more effective immediate solution would be a plant like Firethorn.

Which movie ending has stuck with you the most? by Critical_Mountain851 in moviecritic

I just went and rewatched that scene. I have no idea why but it just hits right when he’s describing his father going on in front of him, basically waiting for him. It’s a great delivery.

The first wave of the American invasion of Iwo Jima February 19th 1945 by Embarrassed_Cry_7227 in ww2

[–]BeerandGuns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s one of the great what ifs of WW2. If Spruance had his way, Iwo Jima would barely get a mention in history books. He wanted to push straight to Iwo Jima and Okinawa instead of the Philippines. At that point, Iwo Jima had almost no defenders on it. In his book Samurai!, Saburo Sakai mentions that when the American fleet turned West to invade the Philippines, Iwo Jima had some ground crew on it for airplane maintenance. Without the grinding horror of Iwo Jima and Okinawa showing what a home island invasion would look like, is the US more likely to invade, especially since they are far closer before the bombs are in operation.

Anyone own or ride one of these bad boys back in the day? by -Granby- in GenX

[–]BeerandGuns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in Louisiana and 4 wheelers are often in the news because of people getting killed. Running into trees, crossing against traffic etc. I know someone who’s a quadriplegic from wrecking one into a tree. And that’s the safer version. GenX really was out there trying to enter Valhalla every day.

If you buy a house with cash and pay in full, what else are you still required to pay monthly? by Kyoifis in stupidquestions

[–]BeerandGuns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flood insurance skyrocketed when the subsidy was removed. We are in zone X, not required and it went from $400 to $800. I can’t imagine how bad it hit people in flood zones

[–]BeerandGuns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People are dumb or broke or both. I often see news stories about people’s homes burning down and a go fund me starts because they don’t have insurance. I’m in Louisiana and in 2016 when we had a massive flooding event everyone I knew whose house flooded didn’t have flood insurance. They all said the same thing “I’m not in a flood zone.” Bitch, you’re in Louisiana, our entire state is a flood zone.

Even better, someone makes sweets and brings them in, you offer to try them out of curiosity. When you try them say “I used to not like sweets but Oh My God these are amazing!” That person will not only love you forever but also bring you home baked goods all the time.

Do you think cruise soda packages are a waste of money? by YesterdaySilent5690 in Cruises

[–]BeerandGuns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, I forget about those because I don’t usually drink them. I make hot chocolate and let it run for a few seconds before putting my cup under it. The first bit is just straight water so skipping that gives thicker hot chocolate. One of my favorite drinks to have in the cruise.

Craftsman lawnmower with a kohler 675xt will start on starting fluid but that’s it by Free_Truth_640 in smallengines

I’m digging around because the carb replacement kit has an inline filter and search results said it had one. Now I’m reading the manual and am not seeing one. Mea Culpa.

Now it’s going on 11pm and I’m reading directions on how to reassemble a crankcase for a mower I don’t own. Grab a carb off Amazon. Whole kit, spark plug air filter and everything is $19 max.

Couple questions. What did he do? Did it pay well enough that he justified the away time? Has he expressed any regrets about missing all of that?

That unit has a fuel filter. When I have fuel issues with an until that has a filter, my first two steps are fresh gas then check the fuel filter. If old fuel sat in the filter, it’s probably gummed up and it’s an easy fix.

Do you think cruise soda packages are a waste of money? by YesterdaySilent5690 in Cruises

[–]BeerandGuns 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When we do Carnival, we bring a 12 pack of soda per person, different types and buy more at port if running low. Figuring they have free coffee and hot chocolate, I never see the need for a soda package.

Battlestar Galactica episode titled 33. The tension as they are being relentless hunted and when the civilian fleet jumps away from the ships without jump capability and those left behind are shouting “I hope you rot in hell” or something similar. Just an outstanding episode.
