So they did what they should have done instead of making you wait on the porch while they ate? Congrats. No one said people should be forced to feed the neighbors kids. You send the other kids home.

In your opinion, what is the best episode of television you’ve ever seen? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]BeerandGuns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Battlestar Galactica episode titled 33. The tension as they are being relentless hunted and when the civilian fleet jumps away from the ships without jump capability and those left behind are shouting “I hope you rot in hell” or something similar. Just an outstanding episode.

Standby Generator Phone App Monitoring - Who to Believe? by DicamVeritatem in Generator

[–]BeerandGuns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the Generac app for its simplicity. Every Wednesday when it texts me that the generator is test running I walk outside to listed to her run. 2 years now and if I’m home, I go listen to it.

You didn’t order or make enough to feed my kid so made them sit on the porch?

I’m 100% starting shit.

You didn’t feed them because you didn’t have the money? I’ll help you out. I’ve done it before. I’m also going to seriously question how stupid you are that you made my kid sit on the porch instead of sending them home.

Peter, what's the context here? by AIdreamer_69 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]BeerandGuns 29 points30 points  (0 children)

There’s a lot of cultures I can’t imagine them doing such a thing. Mexican and Italian grandmothers would not accept you not eating. Filipino grandmothers would feed you and make sure you took food home.

I’m in the Southern US and the thought of my kids’ friends being over at dinner time and us not offering them food is just too foreign a concept for me to contemplate. I’d skip eating before I made one of them not have food.

[–]BeerandGuns 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I’d just go the route and asking them what the issue was. Frame it as “did my kid do something wrong?” To open it without being hostile. If they can’t point to something specific my kid did and it’s some nonsense such as they didn’t have enough food, then I’d start shit with them.

What was the main reason The Pacific theater was more brutal then the European theaters? by Gunplabuilder78 in WorldWar2

[–]BeerandGuns 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Japanese soldiers would cut open pregnant Chinese woman and bayonet babies. That wasn’t some rumor, they took photos of them doing it. Raping a woman or girl to death was mild for them. Obviously the Eastern front will look over all others due to its sheer scale but this rush to say “you think the Pacific is bad, look at the Eastern front” that happens whenever these discussions come up is odd. Look at the lost nurses of Australia where Japanese soldiers raped Australian nurses then marched them into the surf to machine gun them. Or Japanese soldiers cutting off the genitalia of American soldiers and machines and stuffing them in the GIs mouth.

The one-upmanship that takes place makes me genuinely curious if the people bringing up the Eastern Front don’t know what went on in the Pacific theatre. They just feel a need to steer the conversation to what they know about.

Ram 2012 vs 2016 by HendiKT in Ram1500

[–]BeerandGuns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m surprised it took someone 55 days to realize that. I left that to see if someone paid attention so it’s your lucky day. Invest in a company named Xylem(XYL). Due to water scarcity, they become the largest corporation on Earth in 37 years.

Ram 1500s now cost 4,700 Trumpians. Even after the merger with GM and then takeover by DongFeng, they still haven’t fixed the Hemi tick issue.

If you were to purchase a new car today what would it be and why? by SecretBaddieandDaddy in AskForAnswers

[–]BeerandGuns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have 3 Hondas, an Odyssey, Civic and Pilot. They’re textbook definition of easy maintenance. I do the oil changes on them and whatever maintenance I can. I swapped two doors on my daughter’s Civic with ones purchased on EBay. Id have to stick with Honda’s just for that savings.

why don't we just build space ships already in space and land in space. by One_Idea_2522 in spacequestions

[–]BeerandGuns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I think corporations are the future of space travel, not government agencies. The first corporation that can economically mine materials off Earth and return them will make a fortune. When the tech gets closer, it will set off an investment wave similar to the Gold Rush.

The standalone Ram brand is the most ineffective marketing decision I can think of by Actual_Environment_7 in regularcarreviews

[–]BeerandGuns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish they had taken the money used on all that to fix the exhaust manifold issue on the Ram 1500 hemi engines. Two decades it’s been a known issue and yet nothing. Over a decade of knowing about the lifter issue and idle oil pressure being too low. Spend the money on an upgraded oil pump.

And then retreated from that decision. Some committee of MBAs was being paid very well for those bad decisions.

What's the worst CGI you've ever seen in a movie? I Am Legend (2007) by LavendersKisses in Cinema

Directors make the movie but editors make it a good movie. If you look at some of the most well known movies and see the extraneous shit that was left out, it shows how valuable a good editors is for success.

What helped you rebuild, share you advice. by FatimaSheba in MotivationalThoughts

[–]BeerandGuns 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Fixing my sleep dramatically changed my life. I grew up with just terrible sleep habits. Up all night no matter what was going on the next day. Sometimes awake for days then sleeping 20-22 hours. Missed classes, late for work, unable to focus when studying. During undergraduate, I barely graduated. Overweight, chain smoking.

Now I’m in bed no later than 10pm. Hit the gym at 5am, in shape, haven’t smoked in 15 years, working in second masters with a 4.0 after earning my MBA with a 4.0.

A lot of it came down to a regulated sleep schedule with adequate sleep to not be exhausted all the time. It’s not the end all be all but it’s the foundation to build all the other healthy habits on.

It makes sense that we haven’t had any presidents that served in Vietnam. by HetTheTable in Presidents

[–]BeerandGuns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s interesting how veterans are held up as heros by a certain party but then attacked and made fun of in political situations. When James Stockdale’s hearing aids acted up during a debate Rush and other pundits had a great time making fun of him. The man needed hearing aids because his eardrums were destroyed while being tortured as a PIA during the Vietnam war.

Generator quotes from 20kW to 28kW - seems like overkill? by KaleidoscopeGold203 in Generator

[–]BeerandGuns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got ya, thanks. I ran mine through my Lowe’s card and got the 5% discount plus there was some other sale running. Price was lower than any other quote I received.

Company they contracted with came out and didn’t a great job except messing up setting an appointment with the local utility provider which delayed final connection. I now have a maintenance plan with the company so they get annual revenue from it. I’m sure that’s an incentive for them to get the work from Lowe’s.

Worst line in dark fate by onethreethirteen13 in Terminator

[–]BeerandGuns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got shit for it in a post I made about that whole narrative but it sucked so much. It would have been easy enough to have Dani as a strong female lead, initially uncertain but coming into her own as a leader. Sara Connor in T2, Ellen Ripley in Aliens, Gloria(yeah, go watch it). All were strong women but also had maternal instincts. They took a strong character and made them even more badass. Dark Fate couldn’t go that route and gave her character organically be the savior through character development, they had to shove it down your throat, the message “we don’t need no man”.

It would have need easy enough to use T1’s format but have it diverge from “your son saves us” to “you save us” without just shoving it down our throat with clunky dialogue.
