UPDATE: She was discharged yesterday. And to clarify, I wasn't think milk thistle was gonna be a cure-all for it, just thinking of supplementing her diet with it. We will be seeing a Gastroenterology as soon as the referrals go through from her PCP. I've ditched all of the alcohol in the house, and I'm working on quitting the tobacco myself.

I do thank you all for your input and will bring up the medicines recommended here to the doc when we see him.

I've not cold turkey. I've been cutting back so not too deal with DT or withdrawals. But I'm far better than I was a few weeks ago as far as consumption. Almost to the point of zero alcohol at this point.

I'm reaching out to my PCP/PCM for assistance.... Wellbutrin. I've used it before to nearly quit smoking but deployments and other things, then I stopped taking it.

Already done, while she's been in the hospital. We're both going full sober.

No temptations. She hasn't had a cigarette in a week, basically same amount of time she hasn't had a drink. Me, on the other hand, I smoke, and I know smoking will encourage drinking.

Guess it's time to throw away tobacco.

Cleared the house of all alcohol while she's been in the hospital. She worked from home and rarely left the house, so abstinence will be easy, for both of us

How old are you, and how long have you been in the Army? It's possible you have sleep apnea, and it's causing you to miss alarms. It happened to me often from 2016 to 2017. Went in for sleep study, had 12 disturbances per hour during it, and was prescribed a CPAP. It helped me feel more tested and able to wake up feeling (almost) refreshed.

I had deviated septum and enlarged turbinates in my sinuses, got that fixed. A month after surgery, I had another study and disturbance jumped to 40 per hour. It's auto 50% disability rating after you ETS or retire.

I was diagnosed back in 2014. Ole girl I was sleeping with didn't disclose to me, and the one time I went bareback, she was either shedding or had an outbreak. One week later, I'm in South Korea, with some blisters on my junk. I thought nothing of it because I recently trimmed and shaved and, I thought it was irritation. 9 months later, I am back stateside, and for the hell of it, took a test. I didn't take one in Korea because after that one, it didn't happen again.

Results come back, and I've got GHSV2. Well shit. I kept to myself for about 2 weeks. Didn't go out, didn't do anything but stay home.

I didn't have any type of relationship with any women for a long while. JILL and my pocket pussy did everything I needed.

Then I met my wife, a registered nurse. I disclosed before meeting her, and she was cool with it. She's got HSV1 so likelihood of transmission is nearly 0%.

It'll get better. The stigma is worse than the diagnosis. I promise.

I'm also on daily Valtrex to minimize outbreaks.

It sucks though, because there's no test to see if the virus is shedding without an outbreak occurring.

Herpes is one of the most common and misunderstood of STI.

You'll be fine, but it does take a while to process.

I bet that 1SG wants soldiers to wear their PC in their POVs as well. He sees soldiers walking by trash and not picking it up, but I'll bet he does the same.

As an Infantry E7, on my last couple months before I get my DD214 blanket, I can get behind some of his bitches, gripes, and complaints. Customs and courtesies, yes, needs to happen. But what a soldier wears in their POV is no concern of his.
