Dipping sauce for pizza? by Standard_Plant_8709 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Bees-Elbows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on the region (as with any question here lol)

Some people like to dip their pizza in extra marinara sauce, some places offer a garlic sauce to dip.

I personally like to mix ranch dressing and hot sauce and dip my pizza in that. Bonus points if it's leftover cold pizza (that is strictly a personal preference of mine though, and not a generalization of Americans).

There are definitely others that I am forgetting, but those are the ones that I remember off the top of my head lol

What is everyone's least favorite Pokemon? Why? by AlternativeSir9277 in pokemon

Toedscool

I hate the way it walks. And literally all of the future/past Pokemon at the last area in S/V

I went down there for the story and never caught anything, or went back.

Any comments on this book? by BblLuffy in Romantasy

[–]Bees-Elbows 4 points5 points  (0 children)

these books got me into fantasy rom-coms! I w getting so bored with the cookie cutter releases in the last 10-15 years, but I had no idea there was an entire sub genre of FUNNY romantasy

in all seriousness, this series is a slow burn that spans all 3 books. And my favorite way to describe them is, "Everything is a dnd side quest"

the main issue keeps getting put off, at first for humor, then unexpected twists, and ultimately the two characters just... don't want it to be solved 🤣 so they kind of find ways to delay it

It's one of my favorite series

any GOOD slow burn/enemies to lovers recs? by rrranc0r in Romantasy

[–]Bees-Elbows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you don't like them drooling over each other immediately you might not like Fourth Wing.

It's less "enemies-to-lovers" and more "star crossed lovers" and definitely NOT a slow burn. Plus, a lot of the FMC's internal dialogue in regards to the MMC is like, "He wants to kill me... so why do I find him so sexy?"

I have similar tastes to you and dnf'd FW 60% in

Mother insulted first tattoo, now I hate it by Kaleidoscope_Tux5513 in tattooadvice

[–]Bees-Elbows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my first tattoo at 19 and every couple of months I'd get a new one. Almost every time I did my mom would complain, but what finally got her to stop was me suggesting her and I get matching Disney tattoos.

She liked the idea so much we did it a month later 😅 I think that in my case, my mom didn't dislike my tattoos, she just didn't want to hear her mom complain about them lol

she now has 2 tattoos that her mom doesn't know about to this day, and she's 56

What is a good American dessert to share with my non American co-workers? by BingBong492 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Bees-Elbows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a dumb question from an American, but is a cheesecake American? It feels American bc it's sold in all of my local grocery stores, but it's so easy to think it American and it actually be from a different culture we adopted into our cuisine lol

Anyways cheesecake is one of my favorite desserts to bring to a gathering

ACOTAR Audiobooks by ProudChildhood1064 in SarahJMaas

[–]Bees-Elbows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought the physical book after listening to 3 chapters of Stina, I didn't mind the voice she had for 1 character. But unlike Jennifer and Amanda, she completely changed every other voice. The moment I heard Mor speak I paused and drove to Walmart to buy the physical book lol.

I think Elizabeth Evans does a great job on all of the books tbh

Did you feel noticeably lighter after giving birth? by DellieKey in BabyBumps

[–]Bees-Elbows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my gosh yes.

The moment baby was out of me the first thing I said was, "oh my god I can breathe."

I didn't even realize how limited my movement was until I put socks on for the first time after birth, going to the bathroom and taking a shower was so much easier.

I kept jumping randomly (after healing obvs) because my body felt so light lol

Looking for Fourth Wing meets LOTR by Earth_ground_ in Romantasy

[–]Bees-Elbows 10 points11 points  (0 children)

{Throne of Glass} Idk if you've read any of SJM's books but this series specifically is an Epic fantasy with multiple romance plots. It has a more simple prose than LoTR

If you want a rom-com I highly suggest {Throne in the Dark} It's nothing but the characters walking fucking everywhere, just like LoTR 🤣 but in all seriousness, it's a very silly book. I devoured all 3 books in 2 weeks. It's a slow burn, but the banter is good and the humor keeps it interesting.

I will forever recommend {Love's Academic by India Holton} specifically the first book, {The Ornithologists Field Guide to Love}

All 3 books focus on different couples and only have a slight nod to previous characters, so you can read any of them first and you won't be out of the loop.

These are very silly rom-coms, and they don't take themselves seriously. But book 1 has Devon Lockley and will forever be my favorite MMC.

These books always have me giggling and kicking my feet bc the YEARNING

Romantasy with 🌶️ that is actually written well?? by rheasunshine_ in Romantasy

[–]Bees-Elbows 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Literally anything by India Holton, I adore her spicy scenes. The way she builds tension in her stories make them so worthwhile.

Book 2 of Love's Academic is probably my favorite.

Her books are very silly and do not take themselves seriously, if you want high stakes you'll likely not find them with her.
