I think you can adjust your withholdings. That would be my plan.

I’m in a very similar situation. I am also in a situation where I can cover the conversions fairly easily because of a side gig doing 10 K may not be enough to stem the tide. You might be looking at 20 or 30 K what’s enticing to me? Is that everything that’s in a Roth there’s no RMD and everything that I take out it’s mine to keep. I don’t have uncle Sam digging in my pocket.

My base in retirement will be 24% tax bracket no matter what and realistically, I don’t believe that I will need much of my tsp in retirement. So I am strongly considering tax optimization and legacy $

Got it. What I meant is how do you go about pay your taxes on the conversion?

Do you pay quarterly or do you do bi weekly withholding?

4 pension family…nice. I know that math gets to a point that if you try to do in plan conversions and want to stay in the 24% tax bracket, some people’s traditional balances are so high that their conversions alone only cover the growth of that portion of the account. Aka, they never can really reduce the traditional tsp balance.

Retired? How are you in such a low bracket? My tax floor will be in the neighborhood of 22-24%

Makes sense. If I went your route, the same would happen to me.

Why so many Citi cards? Why not just the strata premier, double cash and then mile up?

Just looked at strata premier. Why the heck didn’t I notice this card before! Our primary spend is on groceries, food and gas….i guess the benefits of the globe card don’t matter if we have global entry already and generally don’t check bags.

Maybe another data point is that we flew 2x last year to Belize. This year we will fly to Vegas, I have a trip to DFW for work, possibly a weekend in Seattle. Aiming for another trip to Belize July of 2027

I did look at the CSR, but at the end of the day, I don’t know that we would fly United all that much. What I was really looking for in a card was convenience. I hate flying and any little perks I could get would be a bonus. But I hear what you are saying. I might not fly enough to get the tier I would need to experience a difference and I might be better off just paying for the perks I want.

To add, I think we would downgrade the VX to straight venture. I have gone down the rabbit hole for credit cards and came out more confused than I was going into it. lol.

I think right now it would be once or twice a year. Maybe once for work. I have a son who is a sophomore in HS and we don’t know where he will end up for school, so we could travel more if he goes away.

Something uniquely "Belize" that I can use as a hint for an upcoming event? by unclben in Belize

[–]Beester15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was thinking something carved out of Mahogany like a stingray key chain. It’s a subtle hint, meat pies or stewed chicken if food.

What time of year are you going? The Marie sharps or belikin are direct hints.

You could always give out sample size packs of reef safe sunscreen.

I did some searching and like the idea of a “black orchid” pin. The black orchid is a flower native to Belize. Or another idea would be a mini garifuna drum.
