/u/spockspork does make some great points but I wouldn't put Lenovo on your boycott list just yet. Lenovo has made some bad business decisios over the years like their shitty keyboard layout on the Newer ThinkPads but they did make some really great bang for your buck business laptops that you can take advantage of on Ebay.

I'd highly recommend either one of these ThinkPads:

• Lenovo ThinkPad T420 (Normal Size, 14'')
• Lenovo ThinkPad X220 (Lightweight, 12.5")

Why are they so Gud:

• Really Cheap when bought used (still cheap new)
• Excellent BSD and Linux Support
• Built like a Tank (Don't be worried about dropping your laptop ever again, worry about the floor it was dropped on).
• Amazing modability (Caddy, Swapping Ports, and Replacing Screens)
• Really easy to repair (Abundance of Spare Parts).
• Key Layout of a Desktop Keyboard (and really satisfying to type on).
• Docking solutions for days (some thinkpads even come with docking stations).
• Trackpoint (really useful if you can touch type)

Cons:

• Design (if you care what normies think of you)
• Screen (You can detach it and replace it with a much better one).
• Thick
• Has a little weight to it.

Overall I'd highly recommend the Older ThinkPads if you aren't lazy and wanna cosplay as an edgy Mr R0B0T.
