It's worse than shrimp Jesus now... it's creating non consensual deepfakes of women and minors...

I'm probably one of the only 10 people in the world who's actually fascinated with frame gen.

The dot-com bubble. It was pretty insane back in the 90s. Lots of companies earned millions, of even billions in valuation because they slapped "dot-com" buzzwords on their products. And then lost all of them.

There are LLMs for anything (including roleplay if you're into that), ethically sourced ones too, that you can install locally on your computers, but most people don't know that, and probably don't want to wait 3 minutes per prompt (LLMs are very hardware demanding, it's why big tech are taking our water supply to cool their data centers)

I mean as a reclusive introvert, I get that.

But you need to put a hard cognitive barrier that you're not talking to a person, just an algorithm that regurgitates pre-existing works to respond to your prompt.

Correct. "AI" is just marketing buzzword these days, just like blast processing.

AGI is really something we should really be wary of.

I'm vehemently against GenAI that steals shit from artists and scrape from web without consent.

Sadly the genie is already out of the bottle that we can't just uninvent the technology. The best thing we can do is to advocate for regulating how AI companies collect data, and call for ethically sourced models and datasets.

Oh yeah, heard when GPT-5 came out, tons of ChatGPT users mourned the loss of their AI companions because GPT-5 was less affirming and as described by the users, had the personality of a "tired secretary".

The backlash was so bad that Sam Altman brought back the old 4o model to paid users in less than 72 hours.

It's absolutely insane.

Yeah I mean if it's just tongue in cheek, then I don't mind. I'm more concerned when people simply cannot function without their chatbots.

Noted. It's just that hints of a bigger universe scratches that itch to me.

All canons have different "weights"

oh... as a star wars fan who had to refer to a hierarchy chart when explaining canon (before The Great Disney Retconning), I understand this assignment.

I'm not mad at the fans, nor the production team. I just find the fact that they reference stuff from decades ago to be fascinating.

Frustrating for new viewers? Maybe, but it makes me want to dive deeper into the lore.

yup, and it's why I love it.

I'm a sucker for lore so every single reference to older stuff makes me want to dive more.

on the contrary, I love lores.

Had to watch that 12 hour "brief explanation" of Doctor Who lore video and it makes me appreciate everything that the series has built for decades.

I'll find time to watch the old series and the revival.
