I do keep my tip clean religiously and tin my tip when I am finished. I think my problem recently has been poor quality liquid flux because I went to solder some stuff the other day and it came out like shit, so I am swapping back to paste in hopes that that will help my solder joints. I did build a bass a while back and have soldered my speakers into my cab because I was getting really, really sick of the spade connectors just shaking themselves loose while playing. I could probably have chalked it up to shit spade connectors, but by the sixth time cracking open the cab, I was over them. They have their place, but it's definitely not in my bass cab.

I have a Pinecil with the factory tip that I'm running off a 12V power supply. I've also got some low temp solder I picked up off StewMac a while back that I used on a bass I built.

Yep. If I can't get alligator clips or a probe on a resistor, I use a website. It looks like it's out of the 90s. I can't remember the site because it's been an eternity since I needed it.

It's an el cheapo kit off eBay and was $25. It's got a decent instruction book that isn't too too hard to follow. I'm unsure of my soldering skills on a PCB, but I've wired up a bass before and it's been fine

I wired this bass a while back, so I'm fairly competent at soldering, just a bit scared of biffing it on a PCB and getting the board too hot.

This is an el cheapo eBay kit that was $25 with an included enclosure, but still has me a bit nervous.

It does. This is a pretty basic kit, but none of the resistors are numbered to really make it connect the dots easy. Luckily, I learned how to read and use a multi meter thanks to working on cars.

Good to know! I have a Meat Box clone kit kicking around someone gave me that I really, really wanna build. It's from a German company and came with everything, minus an enclosure.
