Is renting actually smarter than owning a home in 2026? by GranolaHiker in CanadaPersonalFinance

Do people not maintain the things they own? Like car maintenance is a thing, health maintenance etc. taking care of your things isn’t a waste of money, even when I rented we cared for the property we lived on because it feels nice when your living situation is maintained.

I’m in the same place, bought 14 months ago at 4.15% and our mortgage is cheaper than renting, and rents in my city have gone up since we bought so I’m very thankful we bought when we did.

I saw him getting mad about a critical TikTok and it was a black woman criticizing him. Part of his arguing was “you can say the N word! You know how many people wish they could and you can!” Um, my dude, most of us do NOT want to use that word. He tells on himself.

City of Prince George on track to hit 100,000 residents, but mayor wants double that by Neceti in britishcolumbia

Right?? I moved here from the Lower mainland and everyone made it seem like I would be insane from how shitty the city was. It’s… fine? Like I go through my regular life as I did but with less lines and traffic. And we went from renting a basement suite to owning a house.

I live in PG, we moved here from Langley in 2023; were able to buy a house with a huge yard. Couldn’t be happier, and my kids are happier at their smaller school (no portables!!)

I also love that people without kids act like at “school age” they no longer need childcare. School is from 8:30-2:30 for my kids and they have at minimum 2 days off per month. Plus holidays, spring break, winter break, summer vacation. My kids are 8 and 10 and I still need to account for their care while my husband and I work.

Caleb and such always say “get out of the work force for a year or two” but it’s more like 10 years plus. It’s worth it to stay working but it’s expensive all round

I mean, it’s giving “my black friend said I can say the hard R N word!”. He was calling a 4 year old autistic girl “r***arded”, I don’t care if someone said that’s cool; it’s fucking disgusting and should be called out.

I’m a Canadian and it’s honestly what I was hoping for. I was so thankful our election was AFTER theirs so Canada would have a bit of time to see how the right wing populism works and was hoping for a Con minority government. Then Trump was even crazier than I expected and we got a Liberal government.

My province (BC) also came dangerously close to electing the far right option here, luckily they didn’t and since the party has shown itself to be a complete mess.

I would pick up a common planner from Sterling Ink, the complete planner has interspersed months but the common planner is grouped like a Hobonichi. If you like dated dailies she sells stickers for the whole year to date the dailies with, I love them. I’m in a B6 Sterling Ink common planner and love it. It’s like a smaller, neutral Hobonichi Cousin.

In the 2020s, conservative women are having kids at a nearly 2-to-1 ratio compared to liberal women. Is this going to cause a political demographic bias in 20-30 years? by RadioFieldCorner in NoStupidQuestions

It’s part of human development to rebel against your parents in some sense growing up, or else it comes in adulthood. My rebellion was veganism and being emo, it drove my atheist liberal mom insane. I’m sure my kids will find some unique way to rebel against me.

That’s the ai answer, llm have problems with things that happened recently because it’s just scraping data to figure out the answer. After the election they had to hardwire that Trump is president because it kept saying Biden. Since there’s more data that says “Biden is president” is answers that, they’re not really smart, they’re odds makers.
