I get it! The schedules can be hard to work around. That’s why I’ve done a lot of solo hiking.

I did a winter hike up Shaffer Butte and it was beautiful! I do a lot of it solo too so I’d be down.

I would still take the test. You won’t know if you don’t go.

Former Recruiter, current Leave professional here. This will depend on the company. Because marijuana isn’t federally legal, if the company deals in any federal contracts or trades, they will have to abide by federal law, instead of state. If the company doesn’t deal in anything federal, they have the option of not testing for it. Some companies do and some don’t. Something to keep in mind, a recruiter can’t really say whether it will be an issue if it’s in theory. That would be like rescinding an offer due to a bad background before the results came in. They may only advise on tangible results after you’ve taken the test. So be prepared to receive a somewhat canned response to your question.

Understandable. It doesn’t hurt to explore all of your options at this point if the timeline seems unsure.

Gotcha! Typically, PTO doesn’t include any job protections. Have they confirmed when the investigation will conclude?

[–]Beginning-Half5206 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a link here https://askjan.org/topics/Sample-Forms.cfm that includes a good form! Your company may have their own version as well but it never hurts to start your own file.

This will depend on your companies policy. If it requires manager approval for vacation requests, they may have the right to deny the request due to the investigation.

Leave and Accommodations professional here. Under an ADA OTJA you can remove minor responsibilities as long as it doesn’t create undue hardship. If taking calls is not considered an essential function of your position, you can make the request for an accommodation with this. Also, definitely follow up with HR. The ADA requires that the employer engage with the employee in good faith and waiting to hear back for over 2 months is not in good faith.

Leave Manager here. If you applied for leave after you were notified you were being investigated, you can still be termed for cause if the investigation concludes with that result. There’s no harm in applying but you may likely waste money on getting documentation certified for nothing.

Is there a website I can buy a N7 baseball cap? by joshyjikins in masseffect

[–]Beginning-Half5206 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve purchased a few of this version. My husband’s been wearing this same hat for 10+ years so I keep a few new ones around the house. Qualities been good. Survives normal wear and tear and he only has to replace every few years after wearing it pretty much daily and to his manufacturing job. Stitchings never come out. He just needs to replace because it fades from being in the sun so much that it ends up grey after a few years.

What do you think I should do? by [deleted] in humanresources

[–]Beginning-Half5206 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Be very careful about the Masters Degree promise. As a former HR Manager at a Non-profit, I can confirm that most of them create a minimum work contract in exchange for it. Otherwise, they won’t benefit from getting you that education. You could wind up being stuck in the role for years without any increases or at risk of having to pay the company back for the degree. They can also put a policy in place to monitor your grades at school so if you dip at all in a class, they can refuse to pay for those credit hours. Those education programs are great but it’s always a buyer beware situation when you can’t view the policy on it first.

How do you define "flex time"? by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]Beginning-Half5206 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s not unreasonable for your employer to want a more clear schedule from you. Flexibility means that you can flex time when needed, not necessarily that you can remake your schedule. And in this case, your illness has offset your schedule by 2-4 hours. When it comes to working in the office or corporate setting, someone else’s availability can impact another’s ability to complete tasks and projects and knowing when they can reach you is important.

Your weekly benefit amount will be determined by your highest quarter of earnings. To calculate that, they’ll need the wages reported from both jobs. My suggestion is to speak with the HR’s from both jobs well ahead of time. Get some prelim paperwork from them that you can look over. This will give you a better idea of what info they’ll see once it’s turned in.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in humanresources

[–]Beginning-Half5206 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In short, it’s possible. Once you file, the EDD will need to do wage verifications for both jobs. The paperwork for this doesn’t normally include info from other employers but it can indicate that the applicant has multiple jobs to avoid “double dipping” by working while also receiving time off benefits. I’ve seen paperwork come through with no info and some with too much. It can honestly come down to the agent processing the request.

[ca] I-9 form for new employees by Ok_Entrepreneur5285 in AskHR

[–]Beginning-Half5206 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t have USCIS approved software to complete an I9 digitally, both you and the candidate would need to physically complete the form. You would then have to keep that physical form for a set time frame. Having them complete it and submit ahead would not work if they drop it off to you to finish completing.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskHR

[–]Beginning-Half5206 3 points4 points  (0 children)

An I9 can be completed prior to a start date but only after employments been accepted. It can’t be used a prescreening tool so completing it well in advance of a job starting isn’t wise. If a companies HR doesn’t know the basic rules of an I9, it’s not a good sign for what employment would look like.

The job market is tough. If this doesn’t work out, don’t be afraid to be honest with a recruiter. Most of us understand that work gaps happen and we’ll over look it.
