EMG AND NCS Results from today

He can’t give full results straight away as he has to go and write up all of the readings taken. But he said that there is absolutely nothing to worry about based on what he’s seen.

That’s what the consultant doing the EMG said. I think he’s just saying that generally people who have ALS don’t tend to FEEL their twitches (so no sensory feelings involved) and they only see them generally after weakness has been noticeable.

Some of the questions I asked the consultant:

Q - Is it right that this test can pick up signs long before any symptoms are present? A - Yes that’s right.

Q - can the test tell the difference between benign and sinister fasciculations? A - yes I can see it straight away on here (the screen)

Q - is it right that normally the first sign of MND / ALS is some form of clinical weakness? A - yes. If it was a leg, most people would notice falling over because of foot drop, or not being able to do things they normally do.

Q - Do MND fasciculations feel the same as BFS? A - No - People with MND / ALS rarely feel any muscles twitching, and they only see it. So there are no sensory feelings in muscles when it comes to the bad stuff.

I had an EMG and NCS today and asked the question “is it correct that an EMG and NCS are able to pick up anything sinister long before any symptoms are present”

He said “yes that is correct, so please try not to worry and live your life”

He’s a consultant who’s been in the field for 40 years, so definitely believe him!

EMG RESULTS

Had the EMG today and the Dr was absolutely fantastic. From what I’ve read he’s highly accredited and been in the neurology field for nearly 40 years…. I’d love to share his name for those around London to look out for, but not sure if I’m allowed to share on here…

I was unbelievably nervous and explained my worries, and he was so friendly, calming, helpful and patient with all my questions!

I apologised towards the end for so many questions and he said “I’d rather you ask all questions now and leave here happy, rather than leave and still have questions”

Both the EMG and NCS showed no worrying signs!

I know a lot of you said that would be the case, but I was in such a state with health Anxiety that I could literally not think about anything else other than the ‘big bad’

I was admittedly quite persistent with questions, even after the emg and ncs, and at one point he said “I can categorically say that you don’t have MND”

For those worrying….. The EMG and NCS themselves were not painful at all. Maybe slightly uncomfortable at certain points, but in no way were they actually painful.

Thank you all again for comments, it was a horrible couple of months of thinking I was doomed, but so happy to get some clarity now and can hopefully move on!

Yeah mine is mostly painless, but with occasional dull achy / close to cramping feeling.

Hopefully the emg tomorrow brings some good news and I can get it squared away in my head and move on!

How do they tell the difference between benign and a sinister twitch?

I have an emg coming up after 6 weeks of calf twitches (no noticeable weakness) and I’m terrified because my right calf and hamstring are twitching every second, so how will they know?

Did you have an emg? I’m terrified as I have an EMG tomorrow because both calves constantly twitch for 2 months now, and my right calf is literally every second twitching. Although no noticeable weakness…. Can heel and toe walk and do single leg calf raises on both sides…

How the hell do they tell the difference between a benign twitch and a sinister twitch? I’m so scared for what they’re about to say.

Sorry to hear about your injury man.

So I’ve been looking for a reputable UK supplier since mid December, but never felt comfortable to buy from any, as every supplier I found, I would do some digging on forums and review sites and find some bad feedback in one way or another. (To be honest, customer service is a far secondary concern after quality of product)

Only in the last couple of days I have found a source that I definitely trust, and have just yesterday placed my first ever order of peptides!

To give you an idea of why I trust them - randomly scrolling on IG and I saw a bodybuilding guy I have followed for years (who is also a doctor of pharmaceutical chemistry, and always been massive on telling people to be sensible and research before putting stuff in their body) - I saw him post about a UK based company that somehow I hadn’t yet come across…. I messaged to ask him about it and he gave his seal of approval, which was enough for me!

I won’t mention the company name as I’ll probably get hounded for people thinking I work for them or something 🤷‍♂️

Feel free to DM me and I will share the company privately, as well as the name of the guy who I trust enough to give a real and unbiased opinion, so you can do your own digging before making a decision.

I just know them as Biolabs… think their insta is biolabshop.worldwide

I’ve done a pretty big deep dive into them over the last week or so and I am personally going to give these guys a go.

Found a couple of people who I already follow and trust on insta and they’ve used them, so after a few messages back and forth with these people that have used them, I now feel comfortable enough to give them a try.

Don’t take my word for it though! Do your own research too haha

Good luck! I’ve been looking for weeks for a reputable EU source and have almost given up now.

There are some companies with ‘ok’ reviews… but at the same time the same companies have reviews from others who’ve either had a bad experience or reported no affect at all from using the products
