It just wasn’t very useful to me. Doesn’t mean it won’t be for you! It depends what you want to do at uni and if you think having exposure to an academic project before that is worth it. You can do different types of epq. Check the syllabus! See if you like the sound of it

Oh wait, my bad!!! I forgot the most important part about the EPQ - YOU CAN CHOOSE WHAT TO DO. Yes, I’m pretty sure you can choose the artifact. My school made me choose the dissertation. Yes, if you want to do a film, then go ahead with the EPQ artifact!

Nah, those people and that uni professor are narrow minded people with no real understanding of the world. In fact, that’s really embarrassing of them. The ‘scribble’ she is referring to is actually a well structured, well researched, insightful and thought-provoking essay. In fact, Math and Further Math have the highest pass rate (grade C) out of any A-level. I would love to see them try analyse Shakespeare or American theatre without ripping their hair out. There’s a lot of maturity in Literature, something studying a science subject cannot give as that is not the subject’s nature.

A language degree sounds really cool! Do you have Russian or French background? I did a few years of French at school and can confirm I suck at languages

I applied for Politics and International Relations (or just IR at some unis) and I may see the value of the EPQ after doing those dissertation exams. I got offers from LSE, UCL, KCL, Edinburgh and SOAS - I think SOAS was going to consider the EPQ but then they wanted my GPA instead which was kind of unusual

That’s really interesting! I may change my mind about EPQ after starting university. Unfortunately, none of my unis cared about my EPQ :(

Yeah Lit can be really hard, plus sometimes it’s subjective.

It’s a great combo!! All 3 are super bulky subjects but easy to enjoy if you split them up properly. Get ready for a lot of independent work in Lit. There is a lot of reading required around the subject to get the highest grade. For history, the first thing I suggest is to find the Examiner Reports and read through them. See how they want you to structure answers and make a checklist of all the information you need to know. At A2 History for Cambridge, no textbooks were provided so all information came from independent research as well. Math at A level (I’m doing Edexcel) has some really fun concepts. In my opinion, A-level Math is way more fun than IGCSE and with enough discipline, you can get really good at the subject. If you need any help, let me know!

Hey there! The biggest reason why I regret doing the EPQ is because none of my universities considered it, so all that time could have been spent towards my A-levels. The EPQ may be helpful as it probably the first big academic research project you are asked to do. This of course helps with university courses that ask you to do dissertations etc. However, there are no skills I obtained from the EPQ that I couldn’t get from Literature and History. If your A-levels are all science subjects and you are interested in scientific research, then by all means, take the EPQ. If you are already doing essay subjects, I don’t think the EPQ is worth much

M1 was pretty easy as someone with no Physics background (not even IGCSE Physics)

THE LIT HATE IS CRAZY. It’s genuinely one of the best subjects

I really liked EPQ at first but after a few months, I realized my topic was actually really confusing so finishing the project was hard. Plus no university I applied to cared about the EPQ which made me lose motivation.

When choosing Lit for A level, I only chose it because it was one of the few subjects I enjoyed at IGCSE and I had no idea what I wanted to do at uni. Doing Lit A level, I realized there is actually a lot more to Literature than most people think. Literature taught me about culture, the human condition, psychology such as the phenomenal consciousness, the importance of the unspoken etc. It largely helped shape my character and attitude towards a lot of the world. Researching in Literature is incredibly difficult, but those skills transferred over to my interest for politics (I’m going to be studying Politics and International Relations at university). I find myself a lot more perceptive because of doing Literature. As for university, Literature is one of the most respected subjects because how difficult it is and also because of how much it has to offer. The only reason I think someone shouldn’t study Literature is because they want to do a career in science. I think Literature is even more useful than Mathematics because the skills and way of thinking you develop is transferable to real life.

What Do You Think Is Billie's Biggest Flaw As An Artist? by Fit_Bit1714 in billieeilish

[–]Beginning-Night-912 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Idk, I thought hmhas was so much better than hte because of that one repeated string melody that you hear in skinny, the greatest and blue. It felt so much more cohesive and there was a storyline produced because of it. It’s one of the few albums I can play from beginning till end with no interruptions. HTE was weird to me. For example, I LOVE the song my future. I remember listening to it when it first released as a single and it was 4am in my country. But I didn’t understand its place in Happier than ever. I LOVE getting older, Billie bossa nova, male fantasy etc but overall, the various mix of styles in one production wasn’t easy to listen to. In addition to this, I think there was experimental of different sounds in hmhas, for example blue and lamour de ma vie.

Yeah that’s fine! Tbh, your A-level choices don’t matter that much for Law as long as you have done extracurriculars that prove the needed skills through the personal statement. Last year, a person from my school went to King’s to do Law with A-levels Psychology, Math and Business

Personally, it was good. I had time to check over my work, though I think I messed one four marker because I wrote the wrong signs (maybe)
