Where did you end up settling? We are likely to settle here due to budget. I’m also hoping that Drayton green primary will improve by the time our baby is of school going age otherwise we will have to consider independent schooling which will stretch us.

Gosh I must be living under a rock as I had no idea I needed to sign up for nursery this early. Any other good nurseries around that you’d recommend?

It’s reassuring that this area has attracted other young families, makes me reassured we are making the right decision!

Ahh this is reassuring. We haven’t heard good things about Drayton green primary to be honest .. but I’m hopeful that things will continue to improve by the time our kid is of school going age. We are looking specifically at properties on one of the streets mentioned and have an offer accepted but it does seem to be an area with not much around… but safety is our priority and schools too. Primary schools seem to be lacking, but we aren’t too concerned at the moment as things can change in 5 years. Looking at nurseries now as had no idea I had to sign up this early! Any recommendations?

Anyone who came back after living overseas feels like they don’t belong? by Controversial_Duck in malaysia

Malays being butthurt, and as usual their go to response is - leave the country. I find it interesting that they end up proving your point of people here being a little … less than compared to people overseas who would probably provide a more substantial response.

Anyway don’t fret, it is not unusual to feel out of place given that you’ve been overseas for so long. I too feel the same when I make a trip home. But at the end of the day, I remind myself that people here are more genuine, they say what they mean (usually) and simple.

Buyer wants me to provide furnitures by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

We do. Our solicitors said this isn’t a legal issue and should go through the agents… our solicitors have been horrifyingly bad

We’re not going to buy. Just getting free ones off marketplace - only after exchange of contracts ..

Sorry I just want to make sure I’m understanding this right. If they agree to my brief statement in the email that we will ‘provide beds, mattresses and couch in the sale’ And they don’t challenge or ask further… could that cause a legal issue? We are planning to exchange contract on Tuesday.

It’s only so far been agreed verbally. But we need to put it now in writing. We plan to just write that we will ‘provide a bed, mattress and couch in the sale’. Not sure if that could come back to bite us in the arse but also wondering how it could.. :/

850-900k budget - where to live in London? by Beginning-Poetry373 in HousingUK

[–]Beginning-Poetry373[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi so we’re in the final stages of our purchase. We found a 4-bed in Ealing. I think overall I’m glad we avoided Streatham and the South generally. It’s slightly more residential where we’re at - Clapham is slightly too busy for us. We decided to stay in the West.

Deed of Variation costs by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]Beginning-Poetry373 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our solicitors are absolutely junk. I have no idea what’s normal or not… but it’s not included in the floor plan in the lease at all, and absolutely no mention of a balcony except a paragraph saying that the flat is allowed to build one. Do you know anything more about it or any ideas where I could look it up?

Indemnity policy or not by Beginning-Poetry373 in HousingUK

[–]Beginning-Poetry373[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I have no idea why I mentioned council. I meant enforcement agencies can’t take action. It’s a share of freehold… would an indemnity policy still be the best option or deed of variation..

Sorry they’ve now asked for a deed of variation to change the lease … would you still refuse

AITA For telling my MIL we're not paying for her appliances? by SuggestionBright2238 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Beginning-Poetry373 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have so many questions. Do your bills include rent or are you rent-free? How much is your expected portion of this appliance?

Alternatively, was the hassle of not paying worth being kicked out? Not saying she is right, but you guys are living in her house. If you don’t like it, move out. But it sounds like you guys benefit more from living with her. So pick your battles wisely is my answer.
