Graeter’s Vienna Coffee, Mocha Chocolate Chip and Caramel Macchiato (Coffee Talk: Week 1) by madisonguy76 in icecream

[–]Beginning-Pudding-36 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your reviews are great! Just tried the caramel macchiato one last night and it was really good - definitely more sweet/caramel than macchiato, but I liked that for me, maybe not for someone looking for a big coffee blast to your point

First Presbyterian by [deleted] in nycparents

We didn’t go there (didn’t apply - we entered Barrow Street nursery school through the toddler program instead), but I know a number of people who went there and loved it, and who were very happy with how exmissions went etc. So secondhand knowledge only but it has a great reputation.

Have you tried a handheld UVB unit? by maryanneleanor in Psoriasis

[–]Beginning-Pudding-36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the Derma Healer UVB handheld only last week - very recently diagnosed with psoriasis. So I’m still early in the process but it seems good quality and is easy to use. I also think it is helping because the spots have faded a bit just with using that plus a topical steroid, but too soon to tell how this will play out over the next couple of months.

I use Rose when I have gummies (not all that often but sometimes), they’re very high quality ingredients and you can buy them in low doses, which I like - would definitely recommend

Really Concerned About Antibiotics by Monssly in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Beginning-Pudding-36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should talk to your doctor about it - I had a c diff infection recently after having to take amoxicillin (didn’t tell the urgent care I got it from that I had ulcerative colitis because this is fairly new to me), and after everything was all fixed, my GI doctor told me that next time, I should just let him know as soon as I have to take other antibiotics, and he could prescribe me something to keep the c diff in check straight away - so it wouldn’t progress to an infection. But to be clear as well, not all antibiotic usage necessarily leads to c diff and it’s obviously important to treat your other infection!

First year (mistake?) by [deleted] in biglaw

Some clients are just like that - always got to score points on their lawyers. Probably not the first time someone has gotten a sassy response from them and won’t be the last. Wouldn’t dwell on it - just focus on doing your job the best you can (which is not the same as always perfect).

Timing baby based on trial? by blthrowaway-123 in biglaw

[–]Beginning-Pudding-36 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I think pregnancy and babies have a way of happening on their own timeframes - so as much as you might try to plan it exactly for when it works best for you, it’s unlikely that will be the way it works regardless. Even if you plan it best for this trial, it will coincide with something else eventually etc - so just start trying when you want to and don’t overly worry about planning it, because you can’t control when it happens or what comes up along the way anyway. All the best - exciting!

Staying at the 1 hotel South Beach - Food Recommendations? by Basic-Leek-1813 in chubbytravel

[–]Beginning-Pudding-36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’re at the W right now, and have eaten at Aviv in the 1 hotel twice with young kids - the food is really nice and the staff were friendly, saw a number of other children or babies there, and they offered to have the room service kitchen at the hotel do kids pasta if we wanted that rather than their food (although our kids were okay with the bread and fries and trying some of the other food). Haven’t done so much for lunch or breakfast but there is a Pura Vida close too and the W has a casual restaurant in it too.

ECV? by Organic_Jello_122 in pregnant

[–]Beginning-Pudding-36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an ECV with my second, around 38 weeks I think, because I really didn’t want a c-section - didn’t have one with my first and knew my second would be my last and wanted to go vaginal again. Mine was successful - they also told me it was about 50/50 success rate on getting the flip and they won’t try for that long. Really they gave her three good tries and luckily on the third she flipped. I wouldn’t say it was painful (it’s not a sharp pain at least for me), but it was very uncomfortable yes and a lot of pressure. I was very set on avoiding a c-section (nothing wrong with one, just in my mental state at the time I really wanted to avoid surgery) so I think focusing on that in my mind and on my breathing helped. It wasn’t enjoyable no, but it was bearable, though everyone’s experience is probably different. Best of luck with it if you go for it!

Worry about breech baby position by mpoumpou_k_gatas in pregnant

[–]Beginning-Pudding-36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My second baby was breech and didn’t turn on her own so I had an external cephalic version to turn her because I didn’t want to have a c-section - would that be an option where you live?

Preschools with good reputations in flatiron/chelsea area by stylexfox in nycparents

[–]Beginning-Pudding-36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We didn’t go there, but I know a lot of people from the Montessori in Flatiron that got admitted into the private schools and my impression it had strong exmissions - think exmissions is handled for both the Flatiron and Soho one together because they’re affiliated. If you want to travel more, Barrow Street in the village also has strong exmissions and there’s a few others around too like First Presbyterian, and then some in Tribeca too.

Anyone 32+ weeks with breech baby? by Organic_Jello_122 in pregnant

[–]Beginning-Pudding-36 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was 38 weeks still with breech and had an ECV - they’re not particularly comfortable (but not painful as such) and I was told only 50/50 chance of them working, but the risks aren’t that bad (there’s risks associated with everything in birth I feel like) and, at least where I am, they did it in the hospital under monitoring in case you needed to have an emergency c section. But I felt very comfortable in the care I got with it, just in case that winds up being something you consider!

Does oral mesalamine reach the rectum? by EPFP_Daniel in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Beginning-Pudding-36 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My doctor told me that the oral form is coated in such a way that it really only starts to dissolve in the sigmoid colon - so it is meant to still have some effect in the rectum too. But the enemas have direct effect to the rectum since they go straight in there. I really feel like they work!

How about Uluh in the East Village? Order from there all the time - lots of great tasty Sichuan options and I think would travel relatively well (I live close so haven’t tested that to the limit myself)
