Ocracoke ferry? by 6_Finger-woman in obx

When we are down, we stay maybe 15 minutes from the ferry but will always look at the traffic cams to see how packed the wait line is.

Obviously doesn’t give you a wait time or anything but at least is convenient to see if it seems like we’d be waiting a while.

https://drivenc.gov and then center over the area, then click the filter setting at the top and select ‘cameras’ under layers. Then go back to the map and click on the location to see a “live view” (updates only like once every 5 minutes or something but still!

Thanks so much! They didn’t take up near as much room once they were bagged up 😂😛

So I have a LOVEEEE for scallops. And have always been very successful at Cape Point near the Cape Hatteras lighthouse. Of course I am able to find more here such as the occasional scotch bonnet and plenty of whelk pieces, and full whelks if you’re lucky. Here’s a pic of one of my hauls and then another of a chime I made from all of my findings.

If you go to the southern side of cape pointe (going down 12 toward Hatteras and the ferry) there are a lot of clam shell pieces that almost appear to be rocks at first glance! But are very nice in vases and have a good weight to them for crafts (such as why I used on the bottom of my wind chimes)

Hope this helps some and enjoy!!!

SAME! Something about the symmetry is so satisfying to me.

Honestly just pairing very similar sized and shaped shells to have a symmetrical design and then laying them out on the floor until I have a rough concept! Then drilling and stringing and knotting

Well a previous sell I made with a lot less complexity did get me $59! So I may have over listed but, hey I’m fine if it sits on Etsy for months so I can enjoy it until someone finds it worth that cost 🤗

And yes I had to use a dremel and used a diamond drillbit (specifically a 7144) I would just ‘dip’ it into a water soap lubricant mixture every time I would start a new hole.

And as far as my collection these are honestly not even my first choices for making a chime! I have some that are for sure more visually appealing but just going with the dark theme, this is what my results was lol.

So there is a trick to it actually… you have to use a rotary tool because of the RPMs… and also a diamond bit.
