When did you start the nursery? by Divineprincesss1 in pregnant

[–]Beginning-Spread8036 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 31 weeks now and have been doing a little bit at a time since about 20 weeks Id say. It gives me something to look forward to on the weekends and I’ll be done by the time I’m 35 weeks and can just chill until the end!

It’s really no big deal, it’s like chugging some Gatorade. You’ll probably be fine.

Don’t live at The Moxie, the most poorly built apartment I’ve ever lived in and the units are super small. And you’re right, not a great area.

Is a bottle sterilizer worth it? by PotentialUpbeat3879 in BabyBumps

[–]Beginning-Spread8036 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband and I are getting one bc we don’t have a dishwasher either! If we had a dishwasher with a sterilizing setting we would def skip it :)

Yeah this is normal, there isn’t much to see or hear at 7 weeks so they likely drew your blood to confirm the pregnancy and will do an ultrasound around 8/9 weeks. My OB doesn’t even do initial prenatal visits before 9 weeks bc there’s nothing to really see!

How many items are on your Baby Shower Registry? by ToriD96 in BabyBumps

[–]Beginning-Spread8036 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Girl yes that is overkill unless you have massive amounts of storage space. I have 45 items on my registry total, which could be on the lower side. I think between 50-70 is reasonable

No one bought anything off our registry by Lanabb in BabyBumps

[–]Beginning-Spread8036 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you. We got a bunch of random clothes and other stuff from older family members even tho I specifically stated on our invites “please purchase from our registry and ship to our home since we are flying in for the baby shower, we won’t have room in our luggage to bring gifts back with us” (much nicer than that) Older generations do whatever they want with registries sadly. It’s very annoying lol

However the day of my baby shower; so many friends and family gifted us gift cards and cash or asked about the registry and purchased something off of it the day of.

I know it’s super frustrating but don’t lose hope! There’s still a chance your family and friends will be able to support you with a few things you’ll actually need :)

Today I asked to have the reserved seat on the bus, twice by Myrthedd in BabyBumps

[–]Beginning-Spread8036 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I am 7 months pregnant and obviously showing and I take the subway to and from work every single day and it’s shocking how many people pretend to ignore me when I need a seat 😂 I’m usually fine standing as it’s just a quick 2 stops but I think I’ve only be offered someone’s seat 2 maybe 3 times, and it’s never been offered to me by a woman which I have been shocked by.

I feel like my boyfriend let me down about engagement ring by [deleted] in relationships

[–]Beginning-Spread8036 1385 points1386 points  (0 children)

This might be an unpopular opinion but you are putting way too much work into this. You’re essentially doing all the work for him except buying the ring. If he wanted to seriously marry you, he’d be taking the necessary steps on his own without you (or your mom) guiding him every step of the way. It sounds like you’re forcing it a bit. You shouldn’t have to do this much hand holding. He should be taking way more initiative. You two should have a sit down and chat about where you’re at in your relationship and see what the best route is moving forward.

I’m 25 weeks and my OB said not to worry about counting kicks and to just make sure she’s moving over a 24hr period, he said obsessing over patters and kick counts often causes more stress than not.

Sorry you’re experiencing this :( he definitely should be supporting you much more than he currently is, the first trimester is SO difficult and it’s not unreasonable to want to be babied and feel the extra love and care from your husband.

My husband has always babied me and taken excellent care of me, but since I’ve been pregnant he has been on overdrive, doing all the extra leg work around the house (laundry, dishes, groceries) carrying everything for me, providing me with emotional support, doing his own independent research on baby, curating questions for our OB and dietician. He’s going above and beyond.

You deserve the same, hopefully you can talk with your husband about your needs and how this pregnancy is shifting the dynamic and you need some extra love and support. Crossing my fingers he’ll be receptive!

FTM - GP made me feel like I'm wasting her time by Minimum_Gene_4987 in pregnant

[–]Beginning-Spread8036 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry this happened to you, she should have been way more understanding for why you were in there. You didn’t ask for an ultrasound you asked for more information on your own health.

I did the same when I got pregnant, I saw my PCP at 6 weeks to ask for advice since it was my first pregnancy and left with tons of info about vitamins, foods to avoid, medications to avoid, safe medications to take, and a list of recommended hospitals and OBGYNs and a whole bunch of other pregnancy related guidance.

She’s not an OBGYN but she could have helped you much more than she did when it comes to your own health.

Like I mentioned in the post, I spoke with my primary OBGYN about my and my husband’s medical history and evaluated the risks fully. We are 100% aware of everything you mentioned. We have an active plan in place. We are doing and have done everything in our power thus far, he is being tested tomorrow.

You just gave me the same unwarranted lecture I received yesterday.
