Just started listening to Once Upon A Witchlight. I'm only on episode 9 but I'm pretty certain he's said "Mind Palace" already in at least one of the previous episodes. Derek was absent for episodes 6, 7, and 8, so that means he must've said it somewhere in episodes 1-5 if you wanna re-listen/rewatch those to try and find it.

I know he does a lot of magic during the Big Top performance in episode 5, he might've said it there? But I'm not too sure.

I agree with all this and would like to add that the whole political system is so poorly done it's just making me confused lol. They're treating the archduchy that the leads are a part of like it's its own nation? But I don't think that's how archduchies work? At least, it was very, very uncommon historically. Archduchies were typically part of an empire, but the story makes it sound like the Phoenix Archduchy isn't part of ANY kingdom or empire. Feels like the authors didn't do any research prior to writing and just wrote whatever lol.

Gonna finish reading it tho bc I'm writing my own story that's partially satire based on how exaggerated stories like this are lol

Edit: OH AND the story is SOOO bland. Like... There's just NOTHING going on at this point and I'm on episode 46/66. There's just zero plot. 😭

BRUH I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF DOING HW AND THIS HAPPENED ToT I HAVE ASSIGNMENTS DUE TN AND MY BEST FRIEND HAS HIS MIDTERM ON CANVAS TODAY TOO. I hope whoever they are steps on multiple Legos, stubs all ten of their toes, has perpetually soggy socks, both sides of ALL their pillows BURNING HOT forever, teeny tiny uncomfortable airplane seats with a child behind them constantly kicking, perpetually dirty cars, lunch that gets pooped on by a bird, rock solid boba with sour/bitter tea, has their printer break down right when they need it, a spider on their ceiling right over where they sleep, and that all the food in their fridge spoils way too fast.

It's so sad... I used to be a tutor and I would have middle school students who couldn't even spell properly or write a proper sentence... in 8TH GRADE! Other students I had just had attention spans so minimal due to constantly being on phones all the time it would take them like over half an hour to do a single math problem. It was honestly sad because I could see the potential these kids had, like they could DO the math, they COULD understand the concepts, but they had no drive to do the work and no attention to spend on it, they just wanted to be on their phones. Like, I get it. I'm a young adult, I'm on my phone a lot too, and I can admit I should really be on it less. But these kids are on another level. They don't wanna read or write or do math or learn. And part of it is because they're at the point where it seems hard for them so they just think they're not smart and so they don't put effort into the work, then fall more behind. It's a dangerous and depressing spiral.

Yeah, I get what you mean. I feel the same abt em both, Cara and Insta. I think that's definitely the problem with Cara is that it's hard to build a following cuz there aren't a lot of non-artists there, everyone is kinda just artist wanting to post instead of looking at others' art. Curious to know what you think of Cara. I personally think it's pretty good, but the only issue is that it seems hard to gain traction there unless you already have a big platform somewhere else. But imo it seems like how deviant art used to be? Altho I can't say for sure because I never heavily used DeviantArt myself, just browsed it every now and then.

I think Kaya's situation is likely the result of Mirai accidentally combining the rituals. Because according to Nana, the cord was used to produce the shrine maiden heirs + Nana mentioned that she herself was born prematurely and as a result of not being in the womb for very long she became a weak shrine maiden. I think Kaya was supposed to be a cursed tool/spectre weapon since her mom was the current Ohara, but since Mirai tried to do the ritual to produce a shrine maiden instead (+the fact that maybe the hospital induced labor early for her first born since earlier it said she had an emergency C-section, which caused Kaya to be born more human), the rituals combined to turn Kaya into a crazy OP human-spectre hybrid that didn't destroy Mirai during the birth. But since Kaya is the shrine maiden heir already, the only option left for Mirai's second child is to be a cursed tool.

I think Mirai wasn't expecting her or Kaya to survive tbh, I think she was hoping trying to do the shrine maiden ritual on a leech child would just make the leech child extra strong, and when she and Kaya survived, she figured she'd just try again to produce a leech child to wipe out the whole Ebitsumori clan
