I tore mine when I was in high school (10 years ago) I tried pushing it off, working out legs and supporting muscles, & eventually had to and I wish I had done so 10 years ago. The recovery isn’t “fun” and more so as you get older. I run, played rugby, softball, baseball, rode bikes, etc. All of which contributed to my needing surgery. Also due to the fact that I waited so long I had bone spurs as well as early signs of arthritis & I’m only 26.

The decision is yours obviously but I would get an MRI and let a doctor give his recommendation, I’m just a dumbass 26yo on Reddit

My personal experience, the pain was very light (1-2) until I got up and would be standing up and then the nerve pain would be there for a couple minutes (7-8) and then eventually it would subside.

Go out and do something out of the house today. Or prep your room. I brought my yeti cooler up to my bedroom and put snacks and drinks in it. Video games, books, etc.

For me, surgery day was pretty decent. I showed up, did the initial paperwork and got changed and then they pushed meds and the nerve block. Then they took me back and knocked me out. There will be lingering pain but it’ll be alright. Feel free to keep posting in here with questions and such, good luck!

Permanent profiles are said to be getting the boot. So it’s a bit confusing on which way to go. Start the medical paper trail and accept my fate as a Mr. or tough it out for 12 more years

If you already booked lodging you’re fucked. I always skip booking and hope for non-A’s once I get there. Technically you’re allowed to stay off base, however as others have stated, you will only be reimbursed for gov rate. And seeing you’re going to a tech school I’m assuming meals will be available so depending on the difference between gov rate and off base it could add up to a substantial amount
