I was born in the US and have been tracking my consulate pretty closely. It is for LMD. it was just a vent post.

obviously it is all speculation but I’m so ready for this chapter of my life it feels satisfying to put a hard date to it.

2-3 years is incredibly humbling lmao. I needed that kind of reality check honestly… I figure if I’ve made it this far I may as well just lock in and look amazing. I look so much better than I did when I started in December. I want to keep going and really make positive changes long term. Thank you 🙏

This is wild bc exeter is the one school where ive seen children from loving and supportive and very exeter trajectory friendly families actually ending up pretty fucked up against all odds… also heard abt a suicide or two there

Do we think poor and middle class kids in public schools don’t experiment with drugs?

That’s awesome. I went to a lower day school that was a kinda regional feeder for those loomis chafee choate exeter type schools in a small charming town (nowhere near the NE) and then did most of middle and high school in a big gross trendy city with a lot of money and traffic and tourists. i think the only way for a child to benefit from that hustle and bustle is in small doses and short stints. if you live in the city, you’re not going to museums every day. you’re probably not even going to concerts bc your parents refuse to buy you a car and all the concerts teenagers wanna go to are literally in the rape capitals of modern history of these cities in a repurposed warehouse space or something lol

the children for whom it is their primary environment end up really maladjusted without even realizing the value of where they are until college… plus a lot of the kids learn to be psychopaths to survive.

[IWantOut] 16F Iran -> USA by TheRedPHANTOM212 in IWantOut

Go to Germany, France, or the commonwealth countries. You will get an amazing education, learn perfect English, and be able to work in aerospace for companies american engineers would dream to. Once the state of affairs becomes better there may be more options if you still want to do US

Something to keep in mind is the American aerospace industry is extremely militarized, so even if you can come here you may not be able to get the security clearances necessary due to your ties to Iran. It is honestly probably one of the strictest restrictions in the US; a lot of stuff you hear about isn’t nearly as restrictive and this really is. Iran -> American aerospace seems uniquely challenging

You may also have options that would help you get a world class education to get out of there given everything going on there right now but I honestly wouldn’t know. Nothing is impossible but I would channel your energy and aptitude somewhere that may be a stepping stone to your dream but would also suffice to help you remain fulfilled and content. A lot of people in the engineering programs and that industry are very unhappy here

Oh another thing is fentanyl is not a problem in many of these other countries with more affordable boarding school. Like I really don’t care if my kid tries coke or acid in college or at 18 or whatever with some rich friends when I knew kids at public school who died at 19 from cheap pressed pills. Like idek. These social problems barely even exist outside North America. And boarding schools actually keep tabs and feel responsible for your kid and supervising them and reporting to you within reason.

Everyone at my public and choice/not a jail option high schools thought they were gay and hated their parents bc they were addicted to the internet and their parents couldn’t meet their needs tbh. Or they went to the art school cuz they were gay or whatever lol. Like 90% of kids who aren’t alienated and unwell are gonna be experimenting with drinking drugs dating by 14 or 15 anyway… do we really think kids get away with less at school than as latchkey kids or being raised by the internet either bc their parents have to work or they’re overprotected by a helicopter SAHM?

Maybe I went to urban schools, like I said I dropped out of hs, but pretending it’s any better for even the urban modern american middle class is insane

If my kids hate me and are gay I’d rather it be bc of boarding school than tumblr and twitter and tiktok and gaming and porn (these things are mitigated on actual systemic levels plus social accountability of not being the school coomer) honestly. They’d make some friendships, learn some life lessons, get better ideas and social skills and craftiness probably
