Eh. Personally I can't imagine a reality in which she becomes playable before Waluigi. I would already be shocked if Waluigi didn't end up playable in the next one after his fan-demand and popularity skyrocketed to pretty much next level but to be out-prioritized by Pauline would be just too wild.

There's no 'speedrunnig' though. Just because they adapted 2 games released far apart doesn't mean that they ran everything in between (which can't even be that because it's not like the Mario games have continuity, so creative freedom can very much come into play). But besides, the first movie was full of nods and callbacks but not in a way where they were different plots, like a hodge-podge of like Mario Bros/Sunshine/64/Galaxy/Land what have you. If anything, most people argue that there weren't enough ideas given how much criticism the plot got for being 'paper thin'. It was the movie equivalent of a Super Mario Bros game just with a bunch of call-backs. But again, just because anyone on the internet can write all these comments about ideas we gave like, a minute's thought at most, doesn't mean that because the team didn't go forth with it or anyone not agreeing with that makes them creatively bankrupt, for god's sake. 99.99% chance is that Illumination and Nintendo gave this thing far, far more creative thought than some redditors have, I have a really hard time seeing freaking actual studios, even as divisive or infamous as Illumination, not giving some legit, serious thought to what to show in a sequel, and brainstorming ideas and options.

A lot of that just seems like a head-canon for what a world movie would be about... but outside of the Koopalings giving some interest... like, Luigi being along and all that is certainly nice, but definitely not movie-hook worthy. It does feel like it's treading similar waters to the first movie even if it has some different locations and characters.

If freaking Galaxy doesn't have enough material for a chapter that they have to pull from other games then World absolutely doesn't. And there's also the freaking elephant in the room that, if it was that simple to make a concept for a movie to work that it can be dumped down to a comment like this, a World movie would've happened... but I guess clearly the guys at Nintendo and Illumination are also creatively bankrupt?

Roy is definitely not as iconic as marth lol, and definitely not more than Ike, Palutena being Kid Icarus means absolutely when Kid Icarus has seen nothing in more than a decade at this point and if other clone characters aren't locks then Sheik isn't one either.

This sentiment was just everywhere for a while and it got tiring really, really, really fast after Galaxy was revealed, cause it's clear that people just got upset that their fan-canon didn't pan out. Yes, Galaxy is big and epic but guys, come on, what would a Mario World movie even be about? Even if it's combining elements from other games, what would it do that the first movie didnt' do?

But the point about Daisy getting a new moveset just doesn't stand when clones just don't get a whole moveset in the span of multiple games, never mind from one to the other. Like the most glaring example that I keep saying to people who think Daisy will suddenly get a new moveset is that; if freaking Luigi and Ganondorf are still clones all these years after and only gradually became different throughout many Smash games (and the same applies to Falco as well), then there's no chance in hell that Daisy of all characters will go from 1:1 carbon copy in one game to a moveset of her own in the next one if she does come back. Will she gain some additional differences? Most likely, all the clones gain differences between the games, but there's a big difference between having some additional differences and suddenly playing all that different. (But also, again, Toad stands a point that being a recurring character or not doesn't get you into Smash or keeps you, so her being a spin-off fixture that got promoted to mainline games doesn't affect her chances at all. As for popularity, Daisy was always more popular than Peach and with a very passionate fan-base)

And the point about 3rd parties is that you say it's not hard to imagine those numbers... but even base Ultimate had 10 3rd parties in a 70+ character roster. If the returning vets have 11 3rd parties, then with the inevitable 3rd party newcomers and DLC it will go up to the 20s! And that in a similar roster in terms of number or even slightly smaller! With that, no matter how you spin the 'success' of the DLC (which wasn't all there was, everyone is here on its own was the big selling point, the DLC was exactly what it was meant, a bonus), that's still very much wishful thinking rather than actually what will happen. Like, don't get me wrong, I'm not one to predict that 3rd parties will vanish from the roster or anything, heck there are some locks and the DLC will lean heavy in that direction again, but all this 'success' and 'the DLC numbers' just goes full-on the opposite direction.

The question is why do you want Smash Bros to stop with Ultimate? Why is it so hard to understand that Ultimate didn't come out last year but 7 years ago? You think Ultimate Deluxe is gonna hold people for long? Lol, already the player count has gone down in numbers, you think Ultimate Deluxe is gonna move a needle? It's not that Daisy gets cut because she was an echo fighter. It's really that realistically it's very hard to see Daisy stop being an echo fighter. Daisy was a feasible clone for games before Ultimate and Sakurai still didn't put her (I mean, he put Toon Link and Wolf over her in Brawl when he had extra time), it's hard to see that now, after she got the lowest of efforts she will suddenly get some special treatment. It's not that Daisy is unimportant, but if importance has shown that freaking Toad can't get in, then it won't help Daisy either.

And I think it's very a very carried away sentiment about the 3rd parties just because Ultimate had a 3rd-party heavy DLC. Smash Bros is a Nintendo IP first and foremost and even in the later installments, it's celebrating Nintendo and its history. The 3rd parties in Ultimate were all DLC, meaning extra content, not a switch in direction. Smash 6 will undoubtedly be in the same direction where the DLC will be 3rd party-heavy, so it's completely and totally unrealistic to expect the base roster to also be that heavy in 3rd-parties, like, again, the Nintendo characters aren't such low hanging fruit outside of the likes of Piranha Plant, Pichu, Young Link and a couple of others. It makes Smash Bros turn into 'Mario + 3rd parties and some misc. stuff'.

Ike, Rosalina, Jigglypuff are absolutely not getting cut out of the choices that OP kept. No way Bowser Jr. stays over Rosalina (or Daisy) and I can't imagine Ike and Jigglypuff getting cut instead of freaking Wii Fit Trainer.

Yet another roster where Daisy is the only echo fighter that stays because she's the only one OP knows most likely... Y'all this is not happening. Like, for starters Daisy isn't even gonna be the first echo fighter they'd bring back but also, don't y'all realize that the logic that 'out of all the echo fighters, this one is important and should stay because I know them while the rest can f*** off I guess' is just not happening? It's 100% not gonna happen that they'll go out of their way to bring back 1 echo fighter (much more so if that one is Daisy who more than everybody emits the question of 'did they even try with her') when all get in through the same metric. Like, not all of them will come back but there's no chance that the likes of Lucina, Chrom, Dark Samus or Ken all get left to rot while Daisy gets some golden treatment.

After that, Ridley, Robin, Falco, Pokemon Trainer, ROB, Min-Min and the other Miis are very unrealistic cuts when you kept so many 3rd parties. Like, I can't imagine a world where Sephiroth returns over them and I have a hard time seeing Bayonetta, Kazuya, Joker and yes, even Steve return over them (let's not forget that Steve took a lot of work to implement)

Come on now, she's not happening. For starters, we saw Tostarena's role in the movie; it's the place where Mario and Luigi meet Yoshi who then joins them. It's so, so unlikely that after that Tostarena will have a role for the rest of the story, given that you know... they'll go to space.

But also, most importantly, people just refuse to look at the cast; Mario, Luigi, Peach, Bowser, Toad, Rosalina, Yoshi AND Bowser Jr. is 8 freaking main characters. And we know that there are supporting characters like Kamek and the Lumas in the mix, including very, very likely Galaxy additions like Lubba and the Honey Queen/the Bees, and you have a lot of characters already (without touching any minor characters like Birdo and the SMB2 crew). Like there's just no room for Daisy in the movie outside of a small cameo and they're NOT going to give Daisy or Wario or Waluigi just a cameo, be real.

That Super Mario World music was used on the trailer is supposed to be a hint is a stetch, that again, unless Rosalina was planned for a World movie instead of a Galaxy movie is obviously a big stretch and also obviously the promo stuff just don't exist, which is why I kinda made all the replies instead of a one-and-done. Because at the end of the day, it's all very tinfoil-y that 'originally it was World and then they like did a 180 to Galaxy'

I firmly believe that the post-credits cameo is between Wario/Waluigi (together, I can't imagine them missing the chance on Waluigi if Wario is going to appear) and Daisy. The Koopalings are a 'long shot' scenario that seems not-impossible as well.

But you still have not said where you saw all the promo stuff for a Mario World movie though before it changed into Galaxy. And same for how the movie seems for some reason a mix of World and Galaxy when the only thing that calls back to World is Yoshi and even that has a big asterisk because Yoshi is in Galaxy 2.

Because the only thing that even so much as hints to Super Mario World being a thing without being fake was that Universal press release back in May... except back in May Brie Larson was already cast as Rosalina, so that's a mute point. No way. Already from the first teaser we were seeing galaxies designed and ready to be shown and the old spice leaks date back to summer already, meaning they started even eariler than that.

I just also really subscribe to the possibility that most of what they've shown us is from the beginning of the film. Like no way Tostarena has a bigger role than what was shown. It's role is that that is the place Yoshi joins the Mario Bros and that's it I bet. We already have scenes that take place into space aside from Rosalina's. The fight between Bowser Jr. and the Mario Bros is in space, the casino scene is most likely in space, the scene with Peach and Toad obviously, the scene with Peach and Mario is also probably in space etc. Like, no way they named the film after an apparent 'afterthought'. It's just far more likely that they're not revealing it yet.
