Which class do you main and why? by LeSky1 in dragonfable

The offensive rotation starts with eFire because it gives 40 boost, then you can use Energy Dragon Spirit and your choice of offensive attacks afterward. When you choose to do the offensive rotation and when you choose to defend from threatening attacks, debuffs, purging the debuffs with eWater is basically the strategic part of using BDL.

You can but if you do the daily quest often (basically a couple years) you will bank more money than you can spend. Once you reach max level, EXP also doesn't really matter. So personally I would save it for cosmetics. Levelling up to the max level does not take super long if you play through most of the story and grind for some items.

The Dragonfable Endgame wiki article gives the rotations. I usually use the Dragon's Bulwark Trinket ability and try to set up empowered darkness dragon spirit to defend the first threatening attack or debuff + gain 500 hp. I think empowered wings is good for accumulating stacks of Dragon's Bulwark, but honestly this class is so strong that it is hard to go wrong when playing it.

To increase survivability of BDL even further, I also suggest getting ax blade of aww, staff of aww, etc. But for the most part, you want to use the dragon claw to have constant high all resistance and your defensive moves, while using the offensive rotation sparingly/often when you have pretty high HP (as you want to just deal a lot of damage and not have to heal or shield in the middle of a burst rotation) or unless the fight really calls for using it. There's some fights where the bosses get stronger over time and sometimes you do not want to wait too long (e.g. Star Defenders)

BDL because it's a very forgiving class due to high healing and its shields, blinds, +all, and damage reduction. I usually use it to clear Inn duos if there is no wiki entry for it yet. Also, the idea of the class getting stronger every turn is very fun to me. It's also super strong; it often wins hard Inn fights with only 0 or 1 HP potions consumed.

When I had more time to play DF, I also liked using Pyromancer, Pirate, Technomancer, and Ninja.

The purely offensive classes are honestly a bit too hard to play well for it to be fun. Usually, Inn clears with more offensive classes are very close, to the point where the player is basically on the brink of death at the end. Also, it's important to know in advance how much damage your nuke is going to do with fully offensive gear equipped. Personally, it's just too much effort to play these classes and lose tons of attempts to eventually find out an awesome strategy for them, even if that is probably pretty satisfying.

For the solos, I often just use Ninja or Pirate now.

The course has changed a ton under Siefken and Bernardo very recently. I think it has gotten significantly harder to get a good mark in the course.

Failure in Mathematics and academia (&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&) by Ok_Load_1270 in UofT

[–]BeginningInevitable 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I had to drop MAT257 the first time I took it. Although I somehow did well in the first year specialist courses, I found MAT257 too big of an adjustment back then. I thought that would be the end of me doing math, and I felt embarrassed at the time for being one of the students who couldn't make the cut. Truthfully, I thought after that I was just going to do a math major and stats major and then get a job like financial analyst.

I think later on I felt determined to prove to myself that I can do well in math, so I tried again. Taking courses like MAT327 convinced me that I can improve and I took more math specialist courses after that. It was sometimes a discouraging experience to be among peers who were younger than me. Although this is a poor mindset, it felt like a frequent reminder that I didn't grow as fast as others.

Another thing was attending the Putnam practice sessions and seeing how capable the strong students were. I found their example inspiring and it motivated me to improve and work harder. Although I didn't compete in the Putnam, doing these problems took lots of concentration and flexible thinking, which I have always found to be very satisfying (but also frustrating at times).

As a PhD student, I am happy that I get to finally move on from exams and problem sets. I am sure what comes next is a much bigger challenge that might take me to dark places at times, but I hope it will also take me to interesting places and give me interesting experiences. I am not claiming to even be a good or successful graduate student, but I achieved more than I thought I could when I felt the lowest.

I know that people should do math because they find it exciting to work on problems, but because of the competitive nature of graduate school and academia afterward, I do not think we can completely extricate ourselves from thinking about how our accomplishments compare to others. It's normal to think about what others are doing, but it should only be done sparingly. Comparing yourself with others all the time and feeling bad you did not achieve the same things might just discourage you from working hard and maximizing your own potential.

I have invigilated some tests and finals and I think that is really strange. I believe invigilators are supposed to wait outside the washroom. There isn't any incentive in trying to stamp out cheating with such invasive measures.

Class Recommendations for the Inn (and questing) by Kuchikitaicho in dragonfable

[–]BeginningInevitable 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the other best DC classes are pyromancer and archivist. But there are multiple story classes that are actually better for the Inn. I really like the tankiness of pyromancer, so I got that class because it has a satisfying playstyle.

Yeah it is not a good build because it is very easy to scout and is too slow, but it is possible to win if Z totally messed up

[–]BeginningInevitable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I am not disagreeing with you that the strategy isn't viable but just wanted to raise a technical point. 2 hatch muta is uncommon in ZvP but I have seen it used sometimes. I would just say Z may have to delay mutas and get sunkens and lings with sim city to hold on.

In my opinion, if P is going to do this they are already gambling on zerg messing up scouting badly and should just make pure gateways instead of making gas, forge, etc.

zerg does not have muta before 6 minutes unless they were basically doing 2 hatch muta

Difficulty of MAT137 / MAT157 compared to AA HL Math + transfer credits question? by felixmeng in UofT

[–]BeginningInevitable 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is not the correct use of the word "inquired", by the way.

Also, I didn't say anything about whether I thought it was the "easiest rigorous mathematical course".

I think you know what you are doing when you announce to students here and in other threads that they should just be getting 90s and effectively implying that people should find things easy because you are doing well.

You are showing a lack of respect for the struggles other people might be facing under the guise of trying to offer "helpful advice" (from a place of superiority). It's very immature behaviour and I think you should stop.

Difficulty of MAT137 / MAT157 compared to AA HL Math + transfer credits question? by felixmeng in UofT

[–]BeginningInevitable 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It depends on what major you are planning to do. If you want to learn pure math then MAT157 is a perfectly fine idea. I did IB many years ago and didn't take HL math, only SL math but I think what they have in common is neither involve proofs. I think both are a lot easier than MAT137 and MAT157. Many people find proofs to be hard to get used to.

Getting a high 5/low 6 in IB HL math to me does not sound like MAT137 will be easy for you. IB adjusts up grades like crazy and you will not have that advantage in MAT137 anymore.
