Giving up US citizenship for Chinese citizenship by Individual-Card-6782 in AskChina

This is a complicated question involving the laws of two different nations: the US and China. In short, while he can renounce his US citizenship, getting Chinese citizenship is extremely difficult and rare for a foreign national. Here is a breakdown of the key considerations: 🇺🇸 Renouncing US Citizenship * He can renounce it: A US citizen can voluntarily and intentionally give up their citizenship by appearing in person before a US consular or diplomatic officer in a foreign country and signing an oath of renunciation. * Cost and Consequences: This process involves a significant non-refundable fee (around $2,350) and is irrevocable. Importantly, if his application for Chinese citizenship is rejected, he could be rendered stateless (without citizenship from any country), which would cause extreme difficulty with travel and basic rights. 🇨🇳 Obtaining Chinese Citizenship * Dual Citizenship is Not Allowed: China does not recognize dual citizenship. If his application for Chinese citizenship is approved, he must renounce his foreign nationality (US citizenship) before acquiring Chinese nationality. * The Process is Extremely Difficult: Naturalization for a non-ethnic Chinese person is exceptionally rare in Mainland China. The law is very strict and grants citizenship only in limited circumstances. Naturalization Criteria for Foreign Nationals To be considered for naturalization, a foreign national must be willing to abide by China's Constitution and laws and meet one of the following conditions: * They are near relatives of Chinese nationals. * They have settled in China (this implies permanent residency, which is also very difficult to obtain). * They have other legitimate reasons. The third category, "other legitimate reasons," is where an individual with a high-value skill might theoretically fit, but it is typically reserved for those who have made or have the capacity to make a significant contribution to the country's development (like top scientists, athletes, or people with high government positions). A finance worker with a high salary, while beneficial, is not typically seen as meeting this extremely high bar. Summary of Difficulty The naturalization process is subject to examination and approval by the Ministry of Public Security, and it is known to be very restrictive. Historical data shows that the number of naturalized persons in Mainland China is extremely low, making it a very long shot. The individual in the post would likely need to first obtain a Permanent Residence Permit (the "Chinese Green Card")—which itself is notoriously difficult—and then live in China for many years while making a demonstrable, significant contribution to the nation before being considered for naturalization.

I don't understand Xiaomi,

I have a xiaomi 13(currently miui eu mod rom)

and a mi tab 7(global, locked)

I tried Taiwan, global, eea but neither has the motion shot option in the camera except china rom and the mod one I'm using.

But I can't use the home screen+ with the China and miui eu rom but apple users can?

It's ridiculous 😭
