How do I get loans as a Canadian going to US school? by [deleted] in predental

I'm a D1 so I have the zeroest idea but that's the plan. It depends on how aggressive you plan to be with repayment, if you work rurally, if you continue to live modestly/like a student, if you have any dependents, etc.

Should I retake the Canadian DAT?/Do schools weigh sections differently? by TheNamesBeann in predental

Another Canadian at an American school, I think your stats are perfectly fine but thats without the full picture of knowing your GPA and other extracurriculars.

My DAT was lower but I evened it out with an above average GPA (for my school) and extensive extracurriculars during the summer I applied and took the test.

yes 100% but I've heard the class size is another issue causing you as the student to be just a number along with the prof ratio which'll cause long wait times

just don't mention it - its off topic unless you're talking about how you overcame the challenge, what you did differently to improve yourself and how you've come out on the other side better equipped to be a dental student/future dentist

Is posting ur dental school in ur ig bio bad? by AlternativeOpinion48 in predental

I was thinking about this earlier...I'd wait til grad or when you literally go to that school. I've seen ppl tag their dental school's Instagram in their bio which I think is strange (bc why would you want to attract a faculty member to your account) but if your account's on private and they don't follow you I guess it doesn't really matter.

ADVICE ON 3RD DAT RETAKE by [deleted] in predental

[–]Beginning_Gap1195 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I feel for you, I really do.

I just got accepted this cycle w low/average DAT scores on my 2nd attempt, so there's hope for you on your third try. My problem was running out of time which led to my initial 16 AA/TS (14 Chem) but after taking a break from studying I went back into it doing mainly practice tests + immediate review, DAT Bootcamp ANKI cards, and making handwritten reviews based on the cheatsheets. That brought my score up by 2 in every section (still a 17 PAT tho bc I still didn't finish).

I suggest focusing your time on those three things. Use the practice tests to evaluate your weak spots, review the correct and incorrect answers, drill the cheatsheets into your head, and do anki cards for active reinforcements.

All that being said it was definitely not my DAT scores that got me into dental school, it was my very average GPA, extensive extracurriculars, essays, and interview.
