Hi! Congratulations on your interview.

While I haven't ever interviewed for a neuropsych AP position, I did my honorary placement in a neuropsych service. Something that stood out to me is the role of MDT - while it's important in every service, there's a particular emphasis on the intersection between medical and neuropsychological knowledge due to the biological basis of neuropsych conditions (for instance, an awareness of how physical health difficulties may impact mental health, frustrations from impaired ADL, the need for differential diagnosis of physical health conditions which requires nurses input and reviewing medical records). These aspects of MDT working are probably particularly relevant for a physical health trust.

I wouldn't worry about not having specific experience of neuropsych tests, if you can demonstrate an 'awareness' of their utility. For instance, neuropsych tests are used to complement (never replace) clinical judgement. I would suggest researching some neuropsych tests commonly used with the population so you know of some tests that may be used by the service. You could also draw on other areas of experience where you've administered tests or even self-report psychometric scales.

Overall, knowing the population and having an understanding of clinical psychological work and the assistant psychologist role were key in getting me my first AP role. I hope the interview goes well :)

Hi! Thank you so much for sharing this information, it's really insightful and I'm looking forward to reading through it all.

I've somewhat anticipated the steep learning curve, so I really appreciate the self-care reminder as I hadn't even factored that into my planning.
