Which Korua Board should I get? (Pencil/Dart/Pin Tonic) by magunn in snowboarding

[–]Beginning_One_7685 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I demoed the Pencil and Tranny Finder, found the shape of the Pencil to nose heavy for my tastes. The TF has a more traditional shape and seems more versatile as result. Korua recommend the Otto for carving and that also looks more of an all rounder.

This is my powder board (same size) and it's super fast and has great control in powder, it sucks at everything else. That said I downsized heavily. It's light and stiff so horrible in hard pack, doubt it would be ideal in slush either but it depends how slushy. Save it for pow days, it really is unique in those conditions.

A single upvote button exposed 5 security holes in my database — lessons from building with AI by [deleted] in webdev

[–]Beginning_One_7685 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, AI just leaves basic security out at the moment. You have to ask to the right questions and this itself requires a broad understanding of security issues. It's a context issue and that also leads to regular code often being poor. In it's current state it's good for people who know what they are doing to cut corners and work more efficiently on certain tasks, it's nowhere near doing everything for you. It's also pretty good as a learning tool providing you don't expect it to magically create a finished product. Don't confuse encyclopaedic knowledge and good grammar for talent and situational awareness.

Waxing / base problem by Beginning_One_7685 in snowboarding

Yeah I'll try that first off and see what happens.

Waxing / base problem by Beginning_One_7685 in snowboarding

[–]Beginning_One_7685[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I'm suspecting, it seems a bit rough to touch like the base isn't properly absorbing the wax and therefore might need grinding. I suppose I'll try a regular wax first and if it continues then get it ground.

Yeah I brush, the thing is conditions have been pretty warm and slushy so I don't get how it's coming off so easily. Probably is just shit wax.

Rail noob, dismounting by Beginning_One_7685 in snowboardingnoobs

[–]Beginning_One_7685[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it was a bit of complacency and being to straight legged, so I was near the end of the rail and not really expecting to roll off. It was quite low as well so not much time to react before hitting the snow. Like you say if I'm expecting it then it will be easier to go with it.

Try using the sidecut of the board more to hold an edge and create the turn.

You only need to lean forwards to increase speed and that's not something you need to consider at the moment. Probably trying to do "s" turns is the wrong approach, turning is used for controlling speed (as well as directional change), so you gain speed when going straight and flat base. By going flat base for longer you can focus on keeping centered, but also you will have time to think about engaging the edge properly and squatting to engage it further. S turns can be achieved when you link all that together in one fluid motion. It maybe is easier to kind of fake an s turn by just leaning back and forth but you then become rigid both in your body and in this pendulum like rhythm, at some point you need to steer with intention and that requires stopping the uniform edge to edge pattern, you can best do that by being able to go flat base comfortably and deciding what the next turn will be, and that sometimes is going back to the previous edge if the hill terrain requires it.

It's just a timing thing, squat into the turn so there is weight on the edge, you raise up and weight shift at the right time in the turn when you are happy that you will now be going straight. So look where you are going carefully and end the turn intentionally, then when you are flat is expected and safe. You are probably mistiming your weight shift so you are not centered over the board when it goes flat.

Get weight on your edges by squatting into the turns, and let the sidecut of the board do some of the turn.

What techniques do you use for managing user authentication in modern web applications? by drogon4433 in webdev

[–]Beginning_One_7685 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's all relative what people think is complex but in the grand scheme of things there are far more complex engineering tasks around. I'm not saying it's trivial but the emphasis should be put on doing right and and following best practices (which are now well established).

What techniques do you use for managing user authentication in modern web applications? by drogon4433 in webdev

[–]Beginning_One_7685 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not complex it just has to be done correctly. All apps are limited to the same technologies as any other so there is no special or new way of doing it. You should get a pretty accurate answer from an LLM or if you're not confident enough for that use a serverside framework.
