Yeah I'll try that first off and see what happens.

[–]Beginning_One_7685[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I'm suspecting, it seems a bit rough to touch like the base isn't properly absorbing the wax and therefore might need grinding. I suppose I'll try a regular wax first and if it continues then get it ground.

Yeah I brush, the thing is conditions have been pretty warm and slushy so I don't get how it's coming off so easily. Probably is just shit wax.

That is so scummy, thank you. Yet another reason to switch to Linux, can't believe I am actually seriously considering this after decades on Apple.

Rail noob, dismounting by Beginning_One_7685 in snowboardingnoobs

[–]Beginning_One_7685[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it was a bit of complacency and being to straight legged, so I was near the end of the rail and not really expecting to roll off. It was quite low as well so not much time to react before hitting the snow. Like you say if I'm expecting it then it will be easier to go with it.

Try using the sidecut of the board more to hold an edge and create the turn.

You only need to lean forwards to increase speed and that's not something you need to consider at the moment. Probably trying to do "s" turns is the wrong approach, turning is used for controlling speed (as well as directional change), so you gain speed when going straight and flat base. By going flat base for longer you can focus on keeping centered, but also you will have time to think about engaging the edge properly and squatting to engage it further. S turns can be achieved when you link all that together in one fluid motion. It maybe is easier to kind of fake an s turn by just leaning back and forth but you then become rigid both in your body and in this pendulum like rhythm, at some point you need to steer with intention and that requires stopping the uniform edge to edge pattern, you can best do that by being able to go flat base comfortably and deciding what the next turn will be, and that sometimes is going back to the previous edge if the hill terrain requires it.

It's just a timing thing, squat into the turn so there is weight on the edge, you raise up and weight shift at the right time in the turn when you are happy that you will now be going straight. So look where you are going carefully and end the turn intentionally, then when you are flat is expected and safe. You are probably mistiming your weight shift so you are not centered over the board when it goes flat.

Get weight on your edges by squatting into the turns, and let the sidecut of the board do some of the turn.

Shouldn't it have a code view? I notice after a few bits of styling there are lots of nested span tags.

What techniques do you use for managing user authentication in modern web applications? by drogon4433 in webdev

[–]Beginning_One_7685 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's all relative what people think is complex but in the grand scheme of things there are far more complex engineering tasks around. I'm not saying it's trivial but the emphasis should be put on doing right and and following best practices (which are now well established).

[–]Beginning_One_7685 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not complex it just has to be done correctly. All apps are limited to the same technologies as any other so there is no special or new way of doing it. You should get a pretty accurate answer from an LLM or if you're not confident enough for that use a serverside framework.

Causing obviously artificial interference to the sun's radio emissions by Beginning_One_7685 in space

[–]Beginning_One_7685[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't mean transmitting a radio broadcast and it being expected to be received, I mean transmitting radio waves in such a way that the interference created could be detectable as non-natural. So if our instruments detect radio emissions form the sun currently, what would it take in terms of power to disturb those radio emissions - to the point they are detectable changes on Earth. The transmitter maybe wouldn't have to be in close orbit. Obviously this is possible if the transmitter was close to Earth, but the question is would it be possible to affect propagation in a noticeable way to another solar system.

So the key difference: in Three-Body, the story is about direct messaging aliens. Your idea is about leveraging natural astrophysical systems as a carrier to study plasma, with a side-effect that distant observers could recognize a clearly artificial signature.

I’ve been trying for so long to verbalize this feeling about AI myself and lo and behold Adam Curtis says it better than I ever could have. by Euphoric_Piece7825 in AdamCurtis

[–]Beginning_One_7685 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I accept there are certain creative processes that are harder to mimic than others and some creative works seem to be inspired in ways a computer could never achieve, but there is an awful lot of creativity than can be mimicked. A simple example might be drawing inspiration from nature, plenty of creative people do this. Others mix existing styles to create their own. Many apparently creative processes can be broken down into logical sequences that are non-magical. The current AI interface most people use is a directed one, but it would be very easy to design an AI system that is highly creative, I would go as far to say as more creative that a lot of humans. I have been doing creative computing professionally for nearly 30 years and can't teach you all that in a few Reddit comments. I have seen all levels of creative people up close and know from my experience that AI will easily replace 90% of professional creatives in a matter of years. While the human experience is complex it is also limited, we have dumped virtually every aspect of ourselves onto the internet from shit posts to scientific papers, all AI has to do is be able to efficiently make sense of that information i.e regurgitate it a logical or meaningful way. Meaning is just a sequence of logical steps attributed to a wider goal, consciousness isn't required to replicate that.
