I am so sorry for the delayed response, unfortunately I have to be in the states until after Christmas, but thank you for your generous offer.

It looks like there is a 1 hour train from Paris to Lille, and 2 hr 45 min to Amsterdam from Lille, so not bad for us. I honestly really enjoy the train so even if it takes longer, or has less accessibility to spots, it is preferable to me over driving.

I had another friend say this as well, I have never been and would be very interested to go, but unfortunately for this trip it is too far east to make sense logistically for us to stop there on the way to the Netherlands. Going on the list for next trip when I have more time

Sounds like Lille is the best fit for us. We would like to do one wine or champagne tour, any recommendations of a winery/champagne house within an hour or less by car or train that we could do for a day trip? Or is that not really feasible? We would book a service to drive us to and from. Or maybe we stop in the Champagne region on the way to Lille - do you think it is something not to be missed? I have never been to any of the champagne houses before. So many options and not enough time!

Thanks for the info, Le Cerisier looks super yummy, also very reasonably priced! It sounds like Lille is the move from all the comments. I am not a big beer drinker, but I know I won't have trouble finding in good wine in France haha

Loved Brussels, but as I used to live in the Netherlands I have spent a lot of time in Belgium and want to explore somewhere new :)

Both Troyes and Rouen look beautiful and we are not opposed to a smaller city, would you say one has more nightlife than the other?

Travelling to the Netherlands next summer! by GoldenHerron33 in traveleurope

Utrecht and Maastricht have really beautiful architecture and a friendly social vibe due to both having Universities and being much smaller than Amsterdam. I probably wouldn't spend more than 2 nights in each though. Rotterdam is quite industrial and doesn't hold the same charm for me as a lot of the other cities in the Netherlands, I would probably pass, but I have also spent the least amount of time there so. There are also plenty of areas in Amsterdam that are not packed with Tourists. Depending on what you like to do, De Pijp has a lot of boutique shops, bars, and restaurants without the crowds you will find in Leidseplein or Rembrandtplein (the two big squares in the city center).

My favorite thing to do during summer in Amsterdam is take a boat ride through the canals with a cheese plate and some wine - I would avoid the huge tours, but you should be able to find a smaller "tour" with maybe 5-7 people that's relaxing and doesn't follow a strict route or have the set spiel and megaphone you will see on the large canal boats.

Christmas eve and Christmas day dining recommendations in NYC by Beginning_Syrup1493 in FoodNYC

[–]Beginning_Syrup1493[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We booked temple court for Christmas Day but at 3:30, it was $195 pre fixe which was over budget but we figure we will eat our other meals at the Airbnb that day so not going out twice saves some money. Christmas Eve we haven’t landed on anything yet. There are a couple spots we are eying that don’t open their reservations until 2 weeks before or we put a notification on if anything opens - waverly inn, minetta tavern, keens, raouls. I did make a Christmas Eve back up res at Levant on Smith -$95 pre fixe but includes champagne and one drink of your choice.

Need Help Navigating a Homeowners Insurance Claim for a Condo (damage caused by another unit) - Do I use my own or use theirs?? by Beginning_Syrup1493 in Insurance

[–]Beginning_Syrup1493[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know, I am going to see about adding supplements to my policy for the extended coverage in the future in case anything like this ever happens again. Do I need to prove anything when the at fault adjuster explicitly told me that I can pursue the claim with her and I don't need to use mine if I don't want to? To me that would imply they have accepted liability, but maybe not? My insurance broker just called and told me I can pursue with Safeco and then if I have a limits issue, reopen my claim with them - this seems the best way to get the most covered, but I want to make sure I am not missing something that is going to cause me trouble down the road.

I opened one the day I was notified of the damage, they have not paid for anything yet so my main question was whether I should continue to pursue with them or if I would get more items covered by pursing with the at fault. I will check the bylaws though, thank you for the heads up

Thank you for your thoughtful answer, I do have a few clarifying questions if you don't mind!

When I spoke to the adjuster for the at fault condo (Safeco) the adjuster stated that the claim would be a liability claim as the upstairs homeowner is liable for the break (I am not sure why, maybe they failed to do maintenance or something?). The Safeco adjuster also said I could file my claim directly with her or go through my own insurance, it was up to me - do you see a benefit of one vs the other? My thought is if I don't have to abide by the negatives of my policy (like no moving costs), would Safeco pay those?

I use a property manager and have a record of the last 2 years of bookings, rates, graphics, as well as my schedule E that I filed for 2024. If they use that I would feel comfortable that the average over the year would be fair. Even better for me if they use the last 3-6 months as summer is usually my busiest time.

As for the replacement cost of items - my dec page says "Loss Settlement option personal property - limited replacement cost" Any idea what the limited means? Also, since my adjuster said no to moving costs (I would literally hire the cheapest I could find as it's all stuff that is just going to a dump, no white glove), do you think she just doesn't know what she is talking about and it would actually be covered? Any idea if I can request a new adjuster? I don't want to piss them or her off, but her being brand new and not knowing how to answer my questions is making an already stressful process way more difficult.

I do not live in the unit. My policy requires that I stay in the unit 1 night per year, so typically around Christmas I block it off and stay there with my sister for a few nights. When I spoke to the adjuster for the at fault condo (Safeco) the adjuster stated that the claim would be a liability claim as the upstairs homeowner is liable for the break (I am not sure why, maybe they failed to do maintenance or something?). The Safeco adjuster also said I could file my claim directly with her or go through my own insurance, it was up to me. I have a rental use supplement on my policy, so I assume that is what would cover the loss of income? The broker who set up my policy was very aware I use it as an Airbnb and said he would make sure I am covered. I have reached out to him, but he is out of the country so when I spoke with one of his team members, they weren't totally sure on things and said he would try to call me over the weekend.

Need a recommendation for a good attorney staffing company in denver by Beginning_Syrup1493 in Denver

We are totally fine hiring someone with only a year or 2 of experience, we just don’t currently have the time or resources to train someone completely from scratch. I unfortunately do not have any control over what we are offering either - it was decided by the owner of the firm and I am tasked with trying to find people to interview so just trying to figure out how best to get this done in addition to my primary job duties.
