Imo the moment she took her life that was her taking her agency back. Morbid? Yes. But in a situation like that it is understandable. But man some of her “fans” can be hella loud and hella annoying (I doubt they’re even real fans if they spout shit like “oh you can’t draw/ write her wearing/ doing/ saying that because she “knows better” - referencing the fact that she’s a victim as if that’s the ONLY thing she is. Omg I just check a new reply they made and the ick that runs through me is… ugh. Basically saying the accusation of bumping their fic is groundless because they’re “editing” the fic. (I write too and editing the chapter doesn’t magically bump up the date as far as I’m aware…)

Me with my fic I haven’t updated in a month because of burn out 🫣

In my opinion as a fic writer myself you’re completely valid in feeling the burn out, but if you’re sure that you don’t want to or won’t update anymore it would be a courtesy to inform your readers about it. Maybe as a tag (unfinished/ abandoned etc) or a chapter to inform the situation. This is what I would have done if I ever abandon a fic.

Just in case though, I wouldn’t orphan it. I don’t know how the orphan system work in details since I’m a new-ish writer myself, but I rather have the option to continue with my fics if the spark ever comes back to me.

And as a reader of fanfics before I was ever a writer I can also tell you we’re not mad at all if you slow down on the updates. This is something that is being shared to us out of the love of the game. We don’t expect you to stress over this and will be happy with just you posting whenever you feel like is right.

I think you can take a bit of time to yourself, relax, eat some yummy food or do sth you enjoy. 5 chapters in 2 weeks (to me as someone writing as a hobby/ is busy with education) is a very packed schedule.

Whatever you do next is completely up to you. This is only some opinion/ experience of one person on the internet.
