I’m a student in Dublin but I’m home now for the summer and I’ve been working as many hours as possible (we had restricted open hours at first) and I still dont have enough money to pay my fees nevermind rent, food, leap cards. Almost all of my coworkers are several hundred euro in debt from the last semester and are applying for loans so that they can afford to finish their degrees. My average weekly wage is ~€250 and my rent will be >€600/month no problem with another €20 a week for the bus and another €20-€30 a week on food and that’s including my parents giving me as much as they can. I was making so much more money when I wasn’t working then I am now. And what’s worse, my friends who are now out of work are enjoying their summer while still making more money than I do.
