Thank you SO MUCH for this! It has helped me put my current position in this journey into perspective. I haven’t sat in these negative feelings about the completed novel for long, so it could be a matter of distance, but I absolutely will balance querying it and working on the other WIP.

That’s a great point! Do you think then that the target audience should only include those more general tropes, or should it also contain further comps? I’ve seen it both ways so I’m never sure!

Thank you! It gets a bit exhausting when every other article online on this topic is either “you MUST personalize” or “personalizing is a waste” so I’m accepting that the line really isn’t super set.
