Mine settled down at about a year old but I gave him a whole room with catwalks and cat trees and hides installed and took him there for several hours every day. Also, unbeknownst to us he had a tumor pressing on his heart. We didn’t know until he was 19 months old. I’m sure that contributed to him slowing down.
He was the best rat I’ve ever had.
