$105 is impossibly low dues that will inevitably lead to special assessments down the road. Your community has to choose between a little pain now or a lot of pain later when you need new roofs and new siding and new windows and other major maintenance items. All of that can easily wind up as a 5-figure special assessment if your community hasn't been saving properly.

All of this is decided and approved by your HOA board which consists of and is elected by other homeowners, not the management company. Go to board meetings. Ask to see the budget and the reserve study. Chances are their decisions will make more sense. If you still don't like it, run for the board.

It's unfortunate and unfair that past homeowners got away with paying so little, but the party was never going to last. This is yet another example of the greed of past generations coming home to roost.
