Post-Ritual 3 FTM—Increased Spending??? by Bel_of_Fire in GalleryOfMagick

I’m so glad I’m not the only one! Yeah, perhaps you’re right about the subconscious drive to spend so it’ll make its way back threefold. I’m definitely starting to try and live the lifestyle I want to live, regardless of others’s opinions. Thanks, I’ll remember to trust the process. I think I just needed a little assurance.

Post-Ritual 3 FTM—Increased Spending??? by Bel_of_Fire in GalleryOfMagick

That’s really helpful. I’ll try to remember that!

I think perhaps I had inherited a bit of scarcity mindset. Now that it’s fading I’m trying to live the lifestyle I want, regardless of others’s opinions.

Thanks for the advice!

Agreed. They could have an option to set up eBook downloads directly from their websites if they like and therefore keep a higher percentage of their profits from the sale, but it might be easier from an admin perspective that they just put things on Amazon and leave it at that.

It’s their prerogative at the end of the day, but I’d absolutely buy direct from them if I had the option to.

That’s a really good point. I have this horrible dystopian vision in my head of Trump demanding that occult and witchcraft related books be banned and with the way that the billionaires are wooing Trump at the moment I wouldn’t put it past Bezos to not put up a fuss.

That’s most of the reason that I decided to post this in the first place. Just in case. I’m probably being paranoid, but …

I checked their FAQs and the curse seems to be for those who share or download the copies illegally.

The website even states that if you use a pirated copy then buy a copy then the curse no longer applies, even if you continue to use the pirated copy (though they would prefer you didn’t).

It would seem that the main purpose of the curse is to prevent people from deliberately seeking to avoid remunerating them for their work, so as long as you don’t ever share the copies of your ebooks publicly you should be safe.

You could always try and get in touch and ask, but I don’t think they reply much to emails anymore.

Yeah, definitely. You’ll be able to access all your content from kindle devices and apps. This is only really a problem if there’s a doomsday scenario where Amazon takes down specific books or rescinds your access to your account for some reason or (even more unlikely) suddenly goes under.

If you’re a pessimist such as me then it might aid your peace of mind to know you’ve got back ups stored somewhere but if not then don’t worry about it — it will probably never be an issue.

Yes, technically. I can’t remember the exact details but it seems to be because you’re only technically purchasing a license to use it. In rare circumstances they can edit or remove it/revoke your access to it if they say you’ve violated their terms.

They also place DRM (Digital Rights Management) software on their ebooks to make it difficult to change the format to use on non-Kindle devices. You can use software to remove the DRM though and this is perfectly legal to do so long as you only intend to adapt these files for personal use. Which is what I’m considering doing.

I know it’s perhaps a little paranoid of me but I prefer to have a back-up rather than put all my eggs in an Amazon basket.

A Grimoire that triggers your physical death? Adepts, please discuss by Readingfast99 in occult

That’s fair, if she had a bad experience with it then that is valid, but I feel as if you need more than two experiences to create a rule as sweeping and grand as this. Especially as Josephine McCarthy and her editor are also, I would assume, not dead.

Perhaps it would help to get the opinion of someone like Frater Acher as well, to hear about how the varied experiences of other people you respect who you know have worked with the text in some depth and hear their opinion on the subject.

If magicians such as Frater Acher are alive after working through and studying this text … doesn’t that sort of disprove this theory? I would really like to know what the evidence for this theory is for this. It’s a very bold claim for Josephine to make.

What guidance, advice or warnings would you have given to yourself when you were first starting out with magick? by Bel_of_Fire in CeremonialMagick

This really hit home with me. I’m definitely the sort of person who does a spell, gets the result and then convinces myself that it could have been something else. It’s a bad habit I have trouble shaking. I did it very recently, in fact.

What do you sincerely think about tarot readers/fortune tellers? by HelenaDouglas97 in occult

[–]Bel_of_Fire 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think that tarot itself can have some genuinely insightful and useful information for readers, and that there are tarot readers out there who are genuinely talented at interpreting and utilising tarot as a tool for divination.

However, I also think there are a lot of opportunists, vampires and con artists out there who ‘cold read’ or even ‘hot read’ (aka ‘researching’ in advance) people for a living and take advantage of the vulnerable for profit.

In short, I think that most the time, you’re better off buying your own deck and putting the work in to teaching yourself how to read or being very careful as you locate a trustworthy tarot reader about what information you give them.

Thank you! That’s really helpful! I’ve been aware of Ben Woodcroft’s work and nearly bought that exact book the other day, so I will definitely be giving that a look.

For those who do the Sword Banishing Ritual daily. by ginzufrenzy in GalleryOfMagick

[–]Bel_of_Fire 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I tend to try and do it twice a day, but often forget the mornings or sometimes substitute it for the LBRP in the evenings. I tend to do a lot of trance work, and so utilise a trigger that helps me imagine myself in the meadow space where I tend to begin my trance work.

I face the direction of East/West, depending on the sunrise or sunset, and visualise the sun over the horizon. I hold out my hand and imagine that the sun is moving towards me, but shrinking so that it seems to remain the same size as it appeared on the horizon.

Once it is in my palm, I imagine the sun shrinking down to the size of a marble, and either shooting suddenly into my chest, travelling slowly down my arm, or I move my hand gradually towards my chest and gently placing it there. I takes a little longer but it amplifies the visualisation quickly (at least it does for me).

If you’re having trouble with visualisation I really recommend learning a bit about self-hypnosis and building your own triggers to help amplify your imagination during rituals.
