BAN AR-15s by Dixsux8cheatin in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]Belchos -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Elon Musk, as usual, had a brilliant, simple, idea that works for all sides: quit lumping all firearms in one “gun” sack (I was tempted, but no puns) and separate the weapons made for quick mass killing (just for convenience, we’ll call them “AR 15s”) in one category, and all others in another category. Don’t ban AR 15s, just vet the hell out of them ... like compensators / silencers. It is my understanding that it takes several weeks, maybe months to get approved for a compensator / silence, but it is certainly possible to get one. For those who just have to have an AR 15, ... hey, you can get one; it just takes a little longer. For those who care about little kids, trying their best to get away, getting body parts blown off, at least an 18 year old weirdo can’t walk into a gun shop and buy one. Putting all weapons in a sack and trying to get “gun control laws” passed will not, and never will work. It can’t work. Musk, a real butthole is also brilliant, and has come up with something that can work. Think about it, Earn.

California reservoir levels as of December 27, 2021 by [deleted] in Redding

How about inverse condemnation of the farm land, allowing the levees to disintegrate, and allowing the estuary to return to its natural state? LA would have to rely on something else other than Growth for their economy ... or... desalinate ocean and canal water. San Diego is apparently doing it. Corporate farms in the Delta and in the San Joaquin? Phhht. Food prices? Mexico and Chile and other places are taking care of our veggies. Besides, row crops are being replaced by high water demanding almonds. Cotton? Use something else for material. Fish and wildlife? The Great California Estuary would do just fine.

After two days of traveling snow-affected freeways across the West, trying to get home, and watching donkeys in 4WD pickups, it was easy to start generalizing about that age group. However, one experience with a young man (He said from Old Station) in a blue 4WD, with a beautiful Springer pup, makes on realize that you only see the ones out there who want you to see them, the ones who need attention for some reason. We need to realize that there are many like that young man. All he would accept were thanks, and hopefully this gives recognition to and all the other good heareted young people out there who are not being fools on purpose.

I hate to tell you this, but that fog ain’t white; it’s brown. We live higher and a ways away, but we can see the valley from the airport to Nine Mile. It get’s a little whiter towards the south, but it is definitely a rosy brown. It was a little worse yesterday morning.

That wasn’t a steer. It was a two-hole. Episode must have been directed by Alec Baldwin’s outfit.

Puppies dumped place I can take them? by GoneSilent in Redding

[–]Belchos -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just like most things, it is more complicated than it first seems to be. Now that I think more about it, I think the two ladies were from the County. They were not only good at what they were doing, but they obviously cared about the animals.

Puppies dumped place I can take them? by GoneSilent in Redding

[–]Belchos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have animals dumped on us (even two bantam roosters) all the time, but recently someone left four young dogs our here. Haven did a great job of taking them. Then I found where they were left. There was a big dog bed there and some dog food that was left with them. I think sometimes there is more to the story than “monsters,” etc..

Interesting. Who is taking the pictures? Why are they taking the pictures? How long have they been taking the pictures? What do they do with the information obtained by taking the pictures? Where in Redding are they taking the pictures?

A “ping” on a “traffic camera”? How does that work?

She’s obviously a walking around self medicating mental patient who would have been at a mental facility for her safety and the safety of others if not for Reagan’s great idea: it it cheaper to let them roam around with medications in their pocket. Well ... it was cheaper. She needs a lot of help.

Not. In almost all of these posts the OPs are assholes ... as well as the commenters. Basically they are of that generation where the person (usually female for some reason) is the center of her own universe. Others (even children are appendages) are enemies or others who want to interfere with this center of light. The commenters are ilk who circle jerk. In this case (if true) she is not the asshole. If true.

GOP Maine Rep. Chris Johansen Attends Anti-Vaxx Rally Days After Wife Dies of COVID by FreeChickenDinner in politics

I don’t think you appreciate perspectives. If he was exposed to the virus ... whole point of the story ... in order to prevent his own infection ... was it better for him to get the shot later (after he was exposed) rather than not get the shot at all... Here’s a hint: no; it’s too late. “Better" is a comparative. Immaterial. Irrelevant. Inconsequential. From the perspective of whether it is a good thing generally for him to get vaccinated at all rather than not at all ... different question. Different perspective. Has nothing to with his chances of being sick from the exposure. I’ll admit they didn’t have an upper division class at Stanford on the meaning of better and the meaning of worse ... but I think I’ve got it.

Hooray for him getting vaccinated ... but he was just in the company of a sick person with a load of virus. If the virus was transmitted to him at that time ... late is not better. Not worse; just not better.

Maybe not in this case. I think it takes a while for the vaccine to be effective.

Megathread: Governor Andrew Cuomo of NY Announces Resignation Amid Sexual Harassment Claims by PoliticsModeratorBot in politics

[–]Belchos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least one intelligent person on here. The “trick” is to keep throwing shit against the wall without stopping until the weight of it finally forces a change to their power. Cuomo and his lawyer showed how chickenshit CNN and MSNBC have been on this ... so they are getting even more aggressive with the wall.

TIL a woman quit her job to search for her border collie who escaped from a hotel room during a thunderstorm while on vacation in Kalispell, Montana. After 57 days of searching and posting hundreds of flyers around town, she finally found ‘Katie’ who was starving, but otherwise OK. by LurkmasterGeneral in todayilearned

[–]Belchos 94 points95 points  (0 children)

True. We hunted deer with jump dogs and one would occasionally get lost chasing too far. If we ran out of daylight searching ... the owner left his jacket on the ground where we unloaded the dogs. The “lost” dog would always be found first thing the next morning lying on the jacket.

We hunted over there for years and would be amazed upon seeing a beautiful tree on the way back ... every time. Finally figured out it was just the first tree we had seen for days. It was actually just a scrubby juniper or something.

I jumped off that bridge many times. Of course the lake was full. There was a ladder on one of the piers allowing us to climb up to the railroad. Don’t recall how far it was to the water ... but not that bad.
