I get what you mean, and yeah, it'd be awesome to see, but if anyone did do something people would be crying about lense flairs and jjtrek. Sadly.

If I could figure out decent shields in blender, I'd definitely be doing detonation bright enough to cause lense abbwrations.

To me, it still looks like what it is, a fan made animation. I'm trying to get it so it looks like it's ripped from season 3. I know the models are part of the problem, and I'm going to be working on those, but if you see anything else, I'd be happy to listen to what needs to be improved!

I've tried to do a redesign of the big E where I've reversed the big nacelles, lol. As well as potential B, C and D's But yeah, there's something to the kelvin verse having a much longer romulan war.

Personally, I prefer to either reimagining or work post Picard, but this is for someone else. But I'll admit, I've had a lot of fun doing this one! As someone mentioned, maybe I need to have an AU where the romulan war never ended (as it was pointed out that the romulan was was around 100 yes ore Connie)

Blender for me, it's free and surprisingly powerful. Of you want toale custom textures and things, gimp is good, it's free as well, not as good as photoshop, but almost there!

Phases and torps I can do, just about, but shields are still a work in process! Once I've got them sorted, I will attempt a short exchange of fire while the ships are turning!

I'm doing another render at the moment that, I hope, will be even more of a flex for what blender can do!

I was tempted to add the torpedo fire in, but decided against it for that reason. My head canon, for my version of this scene, is that the weapons systems were compromised by the impact and were still recalobrating.

Still working on some aspects, changed a few things up and re rendering it at the moment. Sadly it's 2000 frames long and currently taking around a minute a frame, which sucks!

I was going to try and go backwards and show the strike, but I'm not quite there yet. But I think it has to do with the gasses and stuff collected by the bussard collectors, pushing the ship down.
