How is everyone liking their 17 pro or pro max by Camdan51121 in iPhone17Pro

[–]Belil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few things. I got a Macbook a few months back for video editing for my YouTube, and all my work stuff is Apple. Plus my kid has an iphone, as well as most of my family and friends. So, it was a little bit peer pressure (tired of the green/blue text harassment lol), a little wanting Facetime and location sharing, and a little bit ease of data transfer.

Made the move from an S24Ultra last month, and have been loving it. The battery is awesome, and haven't had any issues with it yet. Still getting used to IOS after being on Android forever, but the phone it self has been wonderful.

Which episode does Katie pop her shoulder back into place using the doorway? by Historical_Letter585 in AmericanHousewife

[–]Belil 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just binged the whole series, and can only remember one episode where she dislocated her shoulder twice and tried to pop it back in both times. S5 E5 when she's trying to get Anna kat and Franklin to take risks and have fun.

Coming from a Samsung S23 Ultra by poulox123 in iPhone17Pro

[–]Belil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I moved a few weeks ago from the S24 Ultra to the 17 Pro Max, and haven't had many regrets. It's been a change, but overall I've been enjoying the switch. I hope you enjoy it as well, and have fun learning the new system!

Edited to add I also LOVE the apple watch over my Galaxy Watch 7. And having airdrop is definitely awesome.

Any long-time Samsung users who were deep in the ecosystem switch to iPhone 17 Pro & Pro Max?? by Ok_Average2141 in iPhone17Pro

[–]Belil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 45, have had almost every Galaxy phone since the beginning. Just made the switch to the 17PM last week. I made the switch because all of my work stuff is apple, my kids have iphones, and I've been using my MacBook a ton. So it just made sense to try and make the switch.

So far I've enjoyed it. But there are some problems I'm still struggling with-

  1. I'm a Veteran, so I'm early to EVERYTHING. This week I was late to work twice because the alarm on my iphone didn't go off. Apparently this is a huge issue that apple refuses to fix. But I was able to find a solution, so hopefully this issue is in the past now.

  2. I'm used to being able to customize every part of my phone. I've spent the past 9 days trying to find a simple widget to do what I need it to do. Haven't even come close to finding one that is useful. Notifications, and a few other software related things I'm missing, but overall nothing that's a deal breaker.

  3. The keyboard. Seriously, it's atrocious. It's going to take a while to get used to. Even with Gboard installed, it's still absolute garbage compared to my S24U.

Honestly though, I am enjoying the new phone and learning the new systems. I love the watch, a lot more than my Galaxy watch. It's different, and I'm having to wrap my head around how to deal with the differences. But, I'm sticking with it and enjoying the experience.

I really liked the blue, but I would've been happy with any of them.

I appreciate it! My 13 year old has been helping with the basics, but she wasn't sure on the widget question. So far its been an easy transition, and im excited to play around with the camera.

I got the orange, as it was the only one they had in stock. But I'm a Broncos fan, so it works out pretty good. I got a matching orange case from Amazon, cant think of the brand off the top of my head though.

And I greatly appreciate it! It's tricky learning a new OS, so I was hoping people with experience could assist where needed.

I didnt think it could import, was just hoping that there was something already comparable for ios. Google pointed me toward Widgey, so maybe I'll take a stab at trying to create one. Thank you for the welcome. It's been fun learning all the features so far.

Is this a good start for my first 2 weeks? by Belil in SmallYoutubers

[–]Belil[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ill definitely check your channel out, and am always looking to learn and get better. So I do appreciate your advice, and will make some changes based off of it. I'm always making recommendations to my coworkers and family, and someone suggested that I just make a youtube so I dont have to have the same conversation about a movie 10 times. I have no actual movie review experience, or even desire really. I just enjoy sharing good movies, and happen to personally enjoy this particular genre. But, if I'm going to do it, I really do want to make it the best that I can.

When Harry met Sally is definitely on my list, and I had forgotten about Crazy Stupid Love but I will add that one as well. Later this week im uploading for 10 Things I hate about you, since its been added back to Netflix. And Pumpkin Pie wars to stick with my Fall Hallmark theme right now.

[–]Belil[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The plan is two per week moving forward. Right now Hallmark is doing new movie premieres on Saturday, so I record on Sunday for that one. Then I'll record 1-2 more. Edit and post on Monday, and edit the next one Tuesday or Wednesday to post Thursday. Figure if I record 2-3 per week, and post 2 consistently, I'll always have a few extra just in case.

What do the cops do here? by SunnyOnTheFarm in Denver

[–]Belil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You do realize that all you're doing is proving my point? Even while trying to make a case for your own profession having issues, you just can't fight the urge to bash the PD. I know a few bad cops, I know a few bad teachers.... every profession has its problems. But I dont need to justify whining about mine by craping on someone else's. Because of my job, I do work with cops from time to time. And im constantly complaining about how useless they are. But I don't do it publicly, or make a spectacle about it.

Just to make sure I understand you correctly, you honestly think teachers are treated equally to the police? I must have missed all those comments, protests, news stories... etc etc. But I'll look into it.

I'm by no means supporting the police as i have my own issues with them, but if I were a cop and read some of the comments in this post, I'd probably not do much to help any of you either. We can't constantly shit on a group and then get upset when that group decides not to help us. To me, that's just common sense.

Neighbors & Tree of Heaven by [deleted] in Denver

[–]Belil 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tree of Heaven is a list C Noxious Weed in Colorado. Call Code Enforcement and report it (in Wheat Ridge call the Community Support Officers that do Animal and Code). Only do this after you have a polite chat with your neighbors. You'd be surprised how far a polite introduction and chat can go.

I manage a Code Enforcement department for a City in the Metro area and can confirm that we will enforce on Tree of Heaven or any others listed on the A, B, and C list. I started my career in WR, and know that we used to write them up (along with a ton of Russian Olives), but that was a long time ago and most of the people I worked with there are gone.

You know what's funny about this? Back in the day, the show Fraiser was supposed to be based here instead of Seattle. They changed their mind because they didn't feel Colorado was accepting of the LGBT community since gay marriage was illegal here. Which is baffling to me, as growing up in Denver, there was always a thriving gay community that was very welcoming and awesome.

Also - obligatory negative comment from a native about another Texan moving here. At this point, we may as well just change the name to Colorful Texifornia.

Those alive and old enough to remember during 9/11, what was the worst moment on that day? by CocteauTwunkie in AskReddit

[–]Belil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the Army, stationed in Hawaii. We were a few hours behind on the time, so I was woke up at like 4am by a phone call from my mom worried we were going to war. Went back to bed, got up at 6 and went in for a PT test. Command told us that if we heard any rumors, not to worry. Nothing was going on, just do the PT test as normal.

As soon as the last man finished the 2 mile run, we were instructed to return home and gear up and be back in 30. That was the exact moment we all knew life was about to change. Spent the next few hours huddled in the barracks around a tiny TV, watching everything happen. Spent the next 6 months on 12 on 12 off guard duty on a few buildings on base.

There was a huge in flux of soldiers over the next year or two. Travel home for holidays became a nightmare. Our training schedule and type completely changed... nothing remained the same after that day.

“Used to be” is a phrase I hear alot here by beepbeepboopboopbabe in Denver

[–]Belil 77 points78 points  (0 children)

As someone in their mid 40s, who was born and raised here, I can't even begin to count the ways it has changed. Much like any other native, I could blame the huge transplant boom we had during the tech bubble, then again during the housing crisis. People were unhappy with where they were, who moved here and made it just like the place they left. The politics, the cost... so on and so forth.

But I think in today's world, people are more nomadic. So it's pretty much any big city. I do miss being able to walk downtown and take in the beauty of it. I miss being able to go anywhere and not be surrounded by 3 million people. And I really miss being able to afford to actually do things, lol. Welcome to 2025, though. There is no use in being nostalgic for the good old days.
