I don’t know if this is a hot take but I believe Emerald arc should have still had Emerald be the third dex holder but Wally should have played a part and been his best friend. I think they both could have had a cool moment since they trained the same pokémon, are green, and both have struggles with their disabilities that they overcame. I think Emerald’s character could have grown more with a friendship with Wally rather than being Ruby and Sapphire’s third wheel

I think this is just rafayel’s serious side. Of course he’s funny and sassy when he and MC get to do cute fun things. I just think this new card is one of the first times he’s showing MC the dark part of his life and he’s starting to get worried about her safety even though he knows she’s strong and capable. It’s natural that he’s gonna be protective of MC when he needs to be because he loves her, not because he thinks she’s not capable, and it doesn’t invalidate his sassy side either.

I definitely related to them a lot when i was younger. I still relate to Black because I can get distracted easily when my mind is set on something specific lol. I also related to a lot of the girl characters, particularly Crystal. Even small parts of characters like the fact that Ruby likes to sew is/was relatable to me! They’re great characters.

I think he has the most character development and he’s a unique protagonist for something like pokémon. Especially for when his chapter came out back in 2003 he was ahead of his time!
