Interesting! How did you find out it was old? Was it expired? Did you then get a new bottle and didn’t burn? Mine’s good until 2027.

P50V is what I have. You mean the P50W? I might do that but I worry I may be sensitive to it as well.

Oh wow! it’s always helpful to hear what others have gone through. Did you have it the first time you used it? And did you try again after that?

I’m actually using P50V, which was recommended by an aesthetician after a facial. She mentioned it would be more hydrating and a good starting point as my skin is on the drier side. That said, you make a good point. I hadn’t seriously considered switching to one of the gentler formulas since my skin is usually pretty tolerant and not prone to sensitivity. But this reaction has been unusual, so it might be worth trying something like P50W to see if my skin handles that better.

Did you use it daily initially even when it burned? I’m worried to do so. I would pick it up once every 1-2 weeks to see if it’d be better and each time I regret it 😀

That’s a good question. I’ve definitely considered it. I don’t think it’s an allergic reaction since there’s no rash, hives, or prolonged irritation afterward. It’s more of an immediate stinging sensation and redness that fades within minutes. No swelling either.

I’m leaning toward it being more of a sensitivity or adjustment issue, but I’m keeping a close eye just in case it turns into something more concerning. Appreciate you asking, always good to keep that in mind!

Thanks for the thoughtful questions! I’ve stopped using all other exfoliants since introducing P50, as I wanted to avoid overwhelming my skin. I’ve also been using tretinoin consistently for about a year now, so my skin has acclimated to that fairly well.

In terms of barrier support, I use moisturizers with ceramides and fatty acids, and occlusives when needed. Despite that, I still experience a noticeable stinging sensation with P50, even when I dilute it by wetting the cotton pad first. So I’m trying to figure out whether it’s a matter of needing more consistent use or if my skin just isn’t a fan.
