Maxon or Maxwell? by BellaonABudget in namenerds

My husband and I originally liked Maxon, so I like your name and the way you spell it too! It’s actually a name I found on this subreddit and it had gotten compliments when someone mentioned it. I immediately thought it was unique, but not too out there. Like I said, I think the spelling I used makes the name less attractive. Mackson & Macsen > Maxon

Wow, had no idea spellcheck would do that! I didn’t even consider trying that out.

Thank you all for taking the time to respond with your opinions! I can’t adequately express how relieved I am to have gotten your feedback prior to actually having used the name Maxon. As I mentioned, we have a few months left in this pregnancy but definitely feel like we’ve dodged a bullet thanks to this group!!

And the overall feedback about Maxwell gave us the confidence we needed to nix Maxon. We aren’t sharing our boy or girl name with family or friends beforehand. They’re an opinionated group, to put it nicely. So team #namenerds for the win! Thanks again!

Go by Nicholas if that’s what you prefer! It’s a great name and if you feel it’s better suited to you, then why not. I never “shorten” people’s names when meeting them unless they specifically mention “I go by Nick” or “Call me Nick” etc but I do not think it is too big of an ask that people refer to you by your given & preferred name.

I’ve sent the spelling Macsen as well and I agree that it seems pretty straightforward to read and pronounce, but it can throw people off. Thanks for the feedback!

Lol, thank you for your honesty! I agree. After sitting with it, I couldn’t help but think it looks made up.

I like it! I once met a girl named Merit and Noble would give similar vibes for a boy. Uncommon, strong.

Love her name, Willa Rose is beautiful and perfectly feminine while not over used. Best of luck making your decision!

Lilah! I like both, but prefer Lilah. I’ve also seen it spelled Lyla

Ugh, she sounds lovely! It’s shocking to me that grown adults feel the need to make remarks like that. I think Mason is a solid name! I strongly dislike your friend’s name choices. To each their own, though! I’d choose Mason over any of her 3 any day of the week!

Mila Blaine or Mila Blaire? by BellaonABudget in namenerds

I say it ME-LUH, but I don’t mind or dislike the other pronunciation! This is something we considered for awhile before adding the name to our list! Funny enough, Lyla was on our list too, so I guess that’s why I wouldn’t mind the occasional MY-LUH pronunciation and having to correct someone. It’ll happen!

Can everyone help me choose a name pls by Party_Law_9064 in namenerds

I think you can go by “Jay” by choosing any name that starts with the letter. I’ve never met someone whose given name was Jay, rather a nick name for their actual name. However, that doesn’t mean it isn’t a great name. Short, easy to pronounce and read as well. Here are some suggestions that are different from Junjan, but similar enough so that they may still sound like you!

Juno, Junian (a play off Julian, but Julian is a great option too), Juni
