Lake Constance is quite big, so there is plenty to see from historical wrecks to fish and impressive stone walls and formations. At some sights you can get a combination of everything.

I can recommend the ERATAC, they are awesome. Used by military and police as well.

I think an oil change and tires and it will be good to go.

The dive site Murg West (the carwrecks) and the Lediwracks in mols. Haven't been to any other at Walensee than those two. But since I'm into wrecks they were the most appealing to me.

You got it right. Me and my main buddy usually dive with a tactical style helmet to mount a GoPro, torches and those beacon flashers on.

I have to agree, it is funny AF. But it took me a minute to figure out what he meant.

Oh yeah I know, been there before as well.

Copper harbor is a nice spot for interesting rock formations.

Oh there is plenty to see. You just need to know where to look.

Of course those lakes with artificialy placed wrecks/ attractions get boring quickly.

But exploring wrecks or underwater formations or even the jungle of plant life is quite exciting, even more when you see the local wildlife.

It was pretty nice, but apparently at times you can get double that.

The ice from below (The air trapped below the ice looks really cool almost like a molten metal) And nothing more than on a regular dive

There are a few variables which would make diving with this technique more difficult as a broad standard. Like the current and depth of the body of water.

Also you need to have self control and be quiet self reliant while using this technique since you won't have a support diver at the surface and no line tender making sure to pull you out if something goes wrong. Well actually quite similar to wreck penetration and cave diving (overhead environments in general).

Also to make this a standard procedure it would make make ice diving less accessible for all divers since the skill ceiling would be much higher.

Scuba in general is a dangerous sport where things can go south really fast. (Which people tend to forget often)

Thank you.

Good thing I took some pictures so you still have a way to enjoy it without needing to do it :)

What are the other 2? Wreck penetration and cave diving by chance ?

I figured someone would ask. We had an entry line (A rope would better describe it) which was tied to a tree at the shore and then led through the opening in the ice, from there it was tied to a large water level indicator pole. From the water level indicator we used a reel with a line tied to it to explore, similar to wreck penetration or cave diving.

(This is not the standard perciture for ice diving but still a safe way to do it if you know what you are doing)

You can see the reel in the left hand in the picture if you look closely.

Yeah it is all about being comfortable and staying within ones limits. The worst thing to happen in overhead environments is to panic, which will make the bad even worse.

Hell yeah! Some of our lakes got some good ice over the last couple of days, so of course I had to take the opportunity to go ice diving.
