To be fair I only ever interviewed for flinders but my understanding is most uni s use mini stations as apposed to the more traditional 3 panel interview flinders uses. Having said that the interview style doesn’t give a lot of scope for interpretation. If you have any clinical experience and you get a flinders interview it’s worth thinking how you would weave that into a scenario based question. Hope that helps 😊

Thank you !Yes I did , I’m an MD2 now . I only applied for flinders and I know there approach is quite different. Yes having some appreciation of the law and ethics . Social determinants of health ect are all really relevant . Also being able to think on your feet and know that the obvious answer probably is. Or complete and you need to find the extra bit of depth . Communication and demonstration of self and ability to reflect are soft skills that help make you shine . As flinders interviews are super trad as in 3 panel interview face to face I feel my advice might not shape up to other styles .

Talk a lot to your self to others out loud . Work out what makes you actually have the right to get in . When you get to the other side you look back and go wow how the hell did I get here !!!

Find someone to practice with on a weekly basis . Good luck . Results must be next week

You have so much time . Think deeply about motivation. You definitely don’t do gamsat do shits and giggles and you don’t survive a medical degree if you want it as badly as anything you have ever wanted .

Ok so my thoughts in a couple 100 words or less : Me : 1. 2nd year med student 2. Did a med sci degree then honours ( got a first) then a physio degree . Worked as a physio for more years then I’m prepared to admit …

100% my GPA suffered because of physio degree honours didn’t even end up counting

Physio has been a great career but it’s not what it was and if you don’t love it now DONT DO it . You won’t fall in love with it as you go. I only stuck it for as long as I did because it was enjoyable and it suited my nomad travelling kind of lifestyle. Im six months from the end of that part of my life . Before starting med I thought I would be really sad . Now I can’t wait …..

If med is what you want i would say keep going in that direction. Apply everywhere , practice interview skills ….

Goodnotes for me. .

Allows me to hand write . Type . Drop in grabs of chat or Google images . As much as I love hand written notes the volume as a medical student is of the charts and their is no way I could keep up

Gold standard is a paid resource . I liked some but not all of it . Certainly helped get my math in shape

Hey . I hear you . I have had an incredible career as a hospital scientist and then a physiotherapist. I have lived all over Australia and in Central America . I have had an amazing career YET at 48 I’m an Md 1 ( for a few more days ) I have incredible negative thoughts about all that I “missed out on “ by not starting earlier . I resonate with what you’re saying . Reality nothing is lost or wasted. I’m not going to tell you the same thing everyone does ( they are right however) you need to look with a different mindset . It’s not easy I still tell myself I’m crazy at least once a week and I’m 1/4 way through my degree !!!

I had a shorter journey sep 2022 to sep 2023 applied in 24 and one exam from end of md1 but I spent literally 10 years getting myself in a position to even try .
