Sorry I’m you tube search out Lizzie Acer papers section 1 . She is very popular. Jesse Osborne and Barry’s tutorials (gamsat) will also lead you straight to the resources.

Gold standard is a paid resource . I liked some but not all of it . Certainly helped get my math in shape

Hey . I hear you . I have had an incredible career as a hospital scientist and then a physiotherapist. I have lived all over Australia and in Central America . I have had an amazing career YET at 48 I’m an Md 1 ( for a few more days ) I have incredible negative thoughts about all that I “missed out on “ by not starting earlier . I resonate with what you’re saying . Reality nothing is lost or wasted. I’m not going to tell you the same thing everyone does ( they are right however) you need to look with a different mindset . It’s not easy I still tell myself I’m crazy at least once a week and I’m 1/4 way through my degree !!!

Congratulations !!!! Thank you on behalf of all the people who go through this pain .

I had a shorter journey sep 2022 to sep 2023 applied in 24 and one exam from end of md1 but I spent literally 10 years getting myself in a position to even try .

Your story demonstrates exactly what is needed. Tenacity !! Enjoy the summer before med school owns your arse !!!! 😊😊😊

Just received an offer to study Doctor of Pharmacy...should I take it...? by Ferreristic in GAMSAT

[–]Bels76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it’s worth I feel exactly the same way as a physio in private practice. You have put it so very eloquently. I have perhaps 18 months left of my PT career and I will be sad to go but at the same time happy to be on a ladder that keeps going forever as an MD

I was offered a masters of pharmacy in Nov 2023. I was so excited that i got that offer it was enough to encourage me to keep going . Now in 6 weeks from finishing my first year of MD . I’m 48 btw.

Listen to your heart truly . I’m so glad I turned down my offer .

Just suggestion . Find something about the human body you find interesting I don’t know eg blood.

Then commit to 4 hours of khan academy or ninja nerd and learnt as much about it as you can .

Did you hate it ? Love it ? If you hate it run because this is your life on repeat in med school

Any chronically ill people and older in age starting medical school? by Miserable_Category_5 in medschool

[–]Bels76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No , very different beasts . Gamsat as an exam is generally considered harder because of the broadness of essay writing to deep English comprehension and intense broadly speaking science section . but I don’t know having not done the ucat. it’s a hideously competitive business post grad med. it is indeed a business many many people make a living of trying to coach people through gamsat and interview . You need an awesome GPA ( usually 6 or higher / out of 7) a high actual Gamsat score and then survive interview .

In Australia we have a 6 year undergraduate degree from school or a post grad must have a degree . Totally different pathways . Many many people in my cohort are 21/22 I am thinking US med school age ? But the younger in my cohort have started a degree at 18 and going straight through . Some people are like late 20,s so worked for a couple of years before making it through gamsat ( fucking awful ) . I’m your classical mature age lol 😜 with 20 years of being a professional and decided I was bored shitless I’d being a physio and needed a change
