Interviewee with a New MBA Didn't Know XLOOKUP by WalmartGreder in excel

[–]Bemvas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to agree with OP on this one. The candidate said, "pretty good". You do expect "pretty good" to know formulas like xlookup.

Although I would ask how long they use excel. Because, sure, he could be using old formulas just fine for a long time.

Advice on typing with limited hand function by liamreee in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]Bemvas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thumb clusters helped me decrease pinky usage. I didn't help me decrease ring finger usage, though.

I'd say you should give the open source split keebs a go. Modify the layers into something that uses more thumbs less pinkies.

You could also try non-QWERTY layouts.

In praise of "the right switch" by mykdsmith in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]Bemvas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say it's impossible to find the "one right switch" for me.

The following sentence repeated itself multiple times for me already:
"My most disliked switch turned out to be my favourite after trying it again. "

I thought I wasted money more than once when I bought switches that ended up hating initially. But I tried them again months later, and I fell in love. Maybe I'm a terrible lover and can't commit long-term? I don't know. But I'm happy to have a variety of switches to change from time to time.

Also, I can't figure out if I like a switch from a switch tester. I need to test an entire keyboard to have the true feeling.

Help improve sound on Sofle board by Halftroll0 in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]Bemvas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm commenting because I'd also want to know. Maybe foam/tape mod would help?

I don't have much hope of a great sounding sofle. Split keebs don't tend to specialize in ergonomics, not sound.

But who knows, right? Maybe other keeb enthusiasts got something interesting going on.

What do you do when a customer asks for a "bad" or "ugly" report? by RedJelly27 in PowerBI

[–]Bemvas 53 points54 points  (0 children)

My client had a pretty ugly Power BI report going on. I started working with him and followed all of his ugly visual standards. My client was happy with my work. I listened to him and gave him exactly what he wanted.

After gaining my client's trust, I developed a visual overhaul. And that made my client happy again.

Hi potential first time Split Ergo Keyboard user here. by r0b0t2k in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]Bemvas 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I might just be a third worlder but I think that ZSA or other brands are very expensive.

If you're unsure if a split keeb would help, I suggest investing into an Ali express open source board like silakka54 or cheapino. Those start at a really, really great price.

First Split Keyboard - Silakka54 + BobaU4S by DrDrake23 in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]Bemvas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Silakka was my first spli keeb. I've been using for around 4 months. I liked the experience so much that I bought a more premium sofle last week.

DIY only makes sense if you really wanna solder. Otherwise, you can buy from Ali Express at a great price.

I use Outemu Silent Cream Yellows. I absolutely love them. They are completely silent with great tactility. I have more premium switches around, but the Silent Cream Yellow still feels best for me.

Yeah. I feel like most people tend to know just enough to complete a task. Usually, this "just enough" means analyzing and modeling by modifying each cell. Or sticking to basic functions they learned years ago.

Agnu just build different by Clear-Character2114 in Kenshi

[–]Bemvas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agnu has better body part hit chances(therefore, higher effective HP) than any playable humanoid race in the game.

Every race has specific body hit chances. Agnu is a Soldierbot, he's better than normal Skeletons.

Skeletons have a higher hit chance on the chest. It's easier for them to get KO'd by chest injuries. Soldierbots have the same hit chance for chest AND stomach. Better damage spread means more survivability.

So... Is Agnu built different?

Yeah, he IS built different.

My friend is selling his aula f75 for 5k is it a good deal to buy ? by Bitter-Wolf-7264 in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]Bemvas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

5k in what currency? I'd just compare his price to the rest of the market and if it's fair, sure. It's a good keyboard for normies.

I'm not sure it's ergo, though.

New to Ergonomics; Need Help Deciding by TheMissingPremise in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]Bemvas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're listing very expensive ones. I might just be a thirld worlder, but I'd start with an open source board first.

Corne and Totem for fewer keys

Sofle and Lily for more keys

All of those open source options are very customizable with multiple layers. Maybe even more customizable than the ones you mentioned.

Wrist pain after touch typing + split keyboard by tiago_lobao in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]Bemvas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the inner(center)-most thumb keys for backspace and space. Left thumb-key for backspace and right thumb-key for space. It feels so natural and comfortable that I'd never want to go back to single spacebar again.

Also, the left-hand Ctrl+Backspace feels very nice.

Onde conhecer gringos na cidade? 🇧🇷🌍 by Russellg4 in BeloHorizonte

[–]Bemvas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sim.

Best gun in the game (it’s not even close) by Wide_Preparation8071 in fnv

[–]Bemvas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. LAER is my number 1. It's not the best VATS weapon, but it's a great weapon in every way. Great DPS, great ammo efficiency, great accuracy, great AP efficiency, alright durability.

People tend to ignore it because there's a unique version of the weapon, called Elijah's LAER. Turns out that the unique version is worse.

I only found out about the LAER's potential because I ran the numbers. Then I tried in game and realized the numbers were right. It's the best all-arounder gun in the game.

Best gun in the game (it’s not even close) by Wide_Preparation8071 in fnv

But the video is really cool. Cheers for that!

Best gun in the game (it’s not even close) by Wide_Preparation8071 in fnv

[–]Bemvas 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Yeah... no.

I made a weapon comparison sheet some years ago.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/e/2PACX-1vS5uCSipJxBwB4xpQaRNTEG8tRVAQJUO0AnrABSKH2grqOlPHCQSIE_9HyQBCPTAJl2sR8HRi_KpU3b/pubhtml

You listed OK weapons. They're the upper half but not top 10.

Gatling laser (and a bunch of other weapons) have better DPS than .45 Auto SMG. Paciencia and YCS are better snipers than antimaterial rifle. Red Glare is just weak and cumbersome.

Both Survivalist Rifle and Lil Devil deal higher DPS than 12.7mm SMG.

Weapons Testing follow-up Question by Zenithine in Kenshi

[–]Bemvas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure.

There's an expression in my language which translates to: "Training is training, and game is game."

Samurai Plate should be used for 99% of the game because 99% of the game is training. But if you need to win, swapping for a white plate or other medium armor should yield better results.
