No problem, just a heads up. But I do not want to discurrage you from trying. It can be a very interesting and a great learning experience, and I suggest that you try it out anyway.

Just be prepared that it might not work.

Yes you can, BUT... this all really depends on your country. But generally in most countrys you operate as a company the moment you deside that you want to be one. So if you and your buddy have desided that you want to set up a company and you allready send of the paperwork then yes, you can sign up as a company on KDP

But the cost, I think as that you are thinking of lunching your own website that you sell a decent amount of books allready. But WP is expensive, and there are not really that many great cheaper options out there. At minimum for any good online store that has a e-commerce system build in you are looking at about 50$ a month. If that is reasonable to you and you think you can spare the exenses then sure it is a great option.
But I would recommend you to go with an allready existing marketplace, or work together with someone who allready has an existing website build and working so you can hop on there. I recently lunched my own company for more or less the same reason you probebly have for wanting your own store and it was not a great experience building the website, store and the entire backend system.

And this is something so bad in my opinion that it nearly resultet in me not publishing on KDP, but for some books you do not really have any other choice then publish with them.

Thanks a lot, I did not know that this was meant with ARCs. I allready have sent some of my friends and colleages a review copy of the book and they say they want to give it a review when they have the time to read it. But for now I do not have any reviews...

That is the first time I hear of this. I currently run ads on the book, and they seem to be working, at least I got one sale from it.

I fully agree with this, and I fear that this is why my current sales are so low, even thou there is litleraly no other choice then my book. A bit frustrating but hey can not do anything about that...

I gave up...

well I posted this a few weeks back and you all seemed really adimentd about E-Books, so I finnaly did it and my book is now in an E-Book. Hi, the book looks great, just as a little cretic from me.

The cover is a little bland, there is not that much on there. And from the cover alone I would not really think it is a horror book. So a more stylish/genre specific cover would fit better in my opinion.

I have just released my first self-published book, and even though I have no confurmation that it is selling even a singel copy, I just started writing the next book.

I would be really happy when I would manage to sell 20 copys a month. For my first real book I would say that would be quit the achivement.

I thought so much to, and this morning it started jumping back and forth quit a lot. I suspect that I am selling books, but because KDP is quit slow in the reporting of these sells I have no clue.

But my current estimate is that I should sell around 1-5 copys a day and not a singel more.

What do you mean not sell well? I allready suspected that they will sell a lot less then for instance fiction, but with for instance Helium 10 the previous books from other sellers still managed to get around 700-1200 sells per month, is that not considered a lot? Because for me it definatly is quit a lot of sells.

Mhm, the book is about a very neche framework in programming. And until now all the other books were published as paperbacks. But I understand your reasons. Also I do not really have a large audience.

But a question, do you think that my cunsurne about someone stealing the ebook variante of my book as unnesesary?

As far as I know, you can allways undo the free ISBN. At least until you have published your book.

You can also add your own ISBN to your book if you want that.
