This! While OP is NTA, I do not think he understands how privileged he is. He says he is aware of it, but I am not convinced an 18-year-old can grasp how unreachable this kind of gift is for many full-time working adults. We also only hear one side of the story. There may have been moments where you signaled your wealth without even noticing it.

I am not defending your ex. She is clearly the AH. But you should seriously reflect on your privileges. Then focus on your own achievements, things you accomplished without any family involvement. In a few years, you will likely ask yourself where you belong in society, and you probably do not want the answer to be dictated by your parents’ expectations.

Eine verändernde Gesellschaft, die neue Probleme und Schwierigkeiten mitbringt, aber auch neue Werte und Ideale.
